That's some terrific stump pulling you've done there. I dealt with three large stumps in my garden by hand 'cos I couldn't get a vehicle near enough. It's amazing how well a handful of puny looking roots can hold on to the earth! I'll second Google (now Trimble) SketchUp. The learning curve is gentle and instant results can be had. You can even export views as PDF files to use as printed out plans with dimensions. Top software. I've bought the full version that gives extra export options for work as I often produce 3D drawings. Hallo Wagoneer mate !!! Trust you are well.

UPDATE! The garage to be has a new name. Overdrives Skunkworks: www.facebook.com/OverdrivesSkunkworksI'm starting to develop the plan for this garage and how its going to be used. Some interesting ideas forming. In the meantime, I've been plodding away with the ground works.... The massive pile of waste wood has now been reduced to this: Leaving me with a reasonaby clear site and enough wood to survive an ice age. Trusty Vitara is soon to be gone, and replaced with something a bit more "skunkworksy" Watch this space...

Cant believe the ineptitude of builders up this neck of the woods....

All wood now completely segregated, and all waste disposed of (with matches). Contractor should be good to go with base laying in 4 weeks....

In light of recent developments, some budget shuffling has been done. Project 7up is suspended this month, and the budget has been spent on 2.5mm power cable (100m), 25m of conduit for burying, and a consumer unit. Fingers crossed there's some left over for lights....

Good to see this progressing!
Just a quick point though - are you planning on using 2.5mm as your feed cable? It's not really going to give you much scope , especially if you are putting in a 25m run of it to the garage.
I may have got the wrong end of the stick, but even just a 16A supply over this distance would be up into 4mm cable (with a 5% voltage drop), if you're looking at running some heavy stuff such as a welder and the like, a 30A supply would be a sensible idea - this would put you up into 6mm cable. Also, if you're burying cables, they really should be steel armoured (SWA). Like I said - I may have read it through wrong.
Always good to be over-spec on cables, than under though!
As you were..... Joe

It begins. The crew arrived early doors and started chiselling out the base... and then edging... Once low enough, the first layer of hardcore went in: ...with Mrs Overdrive featured to provide scale. Lastly, this was pounded in... ...and work stopped for the night. Second layer of hardcore to arrive tomorrow, then the edging will go down for the concrete pour. This might not happen tomorrow, weather is to be horrific. Might push it out till Monday....

More progress! Second layer f hardcore now in, and flattened. Frame for the concrete lay is now in place too. Fingers crossed the weather holds off enough to get a good lay today! (oo er)
