Its hard enough with the right brushes... Try searching for Mack or Xcaliber - both make good brushes. I'd also say get the thinnest brush you can to start of with as you'll be a bit blobby if you're anything like me... For filling in a lettering brush from an Art shop may do the truick cheaply but Mack and X both do suitable pieces. cool cheers, ill try one of those lettering brushes then

whats the secret to getting it so symetrical (sp?) i can come up with designs ok but the symetry is always a bit off!!!
what type of paint can u use, i presumed itd be an enamle or just ordinary car paint without the thinners

You want sign writing enamel. One-Shot and House of Kolor are the two brands that come to mind.
The trick to getting it symetrical is marking out your pattern on a grid with a stabilo pencil. The stabillo is water soluble so when you are done, just wash down and its all gone (or trapped and hidden under the paint)

From what I can gather so far they use a one-shot enamel. Still gonna pursue this, thanks for the help and leads guys.

the main difference is one-shot is best used on top of the clear lacquer if any is used and HOK can be used under the clear.

Good to stumble across this thread. Bought a couple of brushes and some different coloured enamels a couple of months ago and then just sort of went off it as I do. Must give it a bosh again.

I haven't done any since we moved house.
If you don't have handy glass to practice on acrylic sheets (for example thick OHP transparancies) are good to try on.

Practise. Lots. I've been a commercial artist for 20 years, drawing freehand with a variety of tools, but striping needs a new discipline of concentration. I'm rubbish at it.

Did this one last night on the beer fridge, was good cos when i needed another beer i was already there!!!! probably my 7th go at striping, self taught. Some other bits ive done: As for a price, all mines free for the moment! Don't think I'm good enough to start charging at the moment, My fav bit isn't pictured, did the dash on my buddies konsul, pictured above, gives me the horn i tell thee! ;D If you were good at art at school, like drawing and that, its a doddle to pick up, my tip would be to be quick, but don't rush it, oh and beer helps calm the nerves too. Happy stripin'
