Just a quick intro to my latest project - I have been asked to finish this.... Its a two door shell that has been converted to a convertible. All the rot has been cut out and it has been correctly repaired and sprayed. As this is my first Minor I will be posting Lots of questions!!

One of the first jobs was to measure and drill the holes to secure the hood pivot bracket and then trial fit the hood frame - very roughly.

Well I've driven the Minor 1/2 mile ---- At the end of a tow rope to get it to its new home. I've also been moving lots of bits...

I,m thinking of doing this sometime and yours looks to be a gorgeous car when finished, but what puts me off is the need for the BIVA test after you have completed it.How have you engineered the finished article to be test friendly?

Well I've kept busy with lots of little jobs, getting the hood frame straight and fitting to the top windscreen pins, putting the final brake pipes in, re- assembling the doors etc. I've placed an order with ESN for lots of parts, trim, hood petrol tank so progress is being made and I'm aiming for an early May completion......... Re the BIVA - it is just a convertible with a sort of heritage reshell so should be ok?

More progress as the doors have been part assembled However the NS door is a later one with the exterior door lock and the handle I put on had no ext lock..... Fortunately one of the spare doors had a good exterior locking handle and so that was stripped and the handles swapped over. Also the good windscreen wiper motor was fitted for the later wipers and so the drive cables had to be swapped for earlier "opposing" wiper pattern!

More progress has been made! The fuel tank was installed last week and today we collected a nice engine lift. So it was put to good use and the engine and gear box are now in place I have also covered the rear hood wood strip and mounted that on the car ( the ends still need trimming. Another job is to retrim the seats so I've stripped the old vinyl off and started the re- covering.

Top job going on there pal.

Further progress as the clutch is now connected to the pedal, the propshaft installed, the exhaust in place, the rear seats trimmed and just put in to see the effect!

More progress as the engine is now bolted in place with the exhaust on and fuel pump installed and plumbed in. Further wiring connected and engine steady bar in place. At the back the other rear window is in place together with the rear hood rail - but is the hood stapled to that or press studded??

Looks like a lovely job. I hope you're going to remove/cover that Halfords sticker on the battery as it looks so out of place amongst all the braided wiring.

That Halfords battery is almost retro...
Well, it's got the old logo on the front.

Thanks Dan ( Your build is most impressive!) Anyway back to the Minor and the wooden header rail is shot So a new one is on order. I have tried - and failed - to get the engine started today - timing set, points set, petrol in the carb, but no spark so no go (will sort it next week.....) Then I quickly mocked up the front panel and wing

More progress as the back end is just about finished and the drivers door assembled - and loosely put in place! Still not started the engine though - perhaps tomorrow......

Well it lives! Checked throught the ignition system and there seemed to be a problem with the points so I took the contact breaker out, cleaned it up and reinstalled it. Set the gap, threw some petrol in the carb and it fired straight up. Jury rigged the pump and it then idled steadily....... Then wired up the dashboard switches.
