I am pretty sure someone obviously wrote an ebook on how to do all this and has made a mint flogging it on ebay  however, i expect everyone who bought it never received it, but had to post a brown envelope containing there savings to nigeria etc etc |

could probably wire it in somewhere, but don't think soldering it to the carb would have much of an effect!  and he's tested it too apparently! |

One thing I don't understand is how on earth they manage to harvest the ebay ID's and passwords to hijack the accounts in the first place........
It's the hijacked account ones that are most plausable
Anyway in the past the scammers have
- always listed multiple cars on a hijacked account. (Now it looks like one per account)
- Have always used the "email me" in the listing (now they are being clever and putting links in rather than use the phase)
- Always listed at 0.01 starting price (seen a few creeping in that are 99p now)
- Always put the BIN for £X,XXX in the second line of the title (now they are leaving that out)

Now they've moved on from the one that looks like eBay wanting you to "confirm your personal information" to one where it looks like a dispute warnign from eBay SafeHarbor or what ever they call it now. As soon as you click on the details thing it takes you to an "eBay" sign in page
I've also had a few where its a "message from an eBay member" email which has been faked. Either its someone asking for the delivery address for the new boxed Cartier watch I just paid for (hey look cletus I can get me a free Cartier watch off this dumby) or its an irate message from someone claiming they never recieved the item you posted out to them and they are going to call the cops / report you to eBay and get you banned / get a paypal strike against you / whatever. You click "reply" on the yellow button to ask WTF? and are taken to a fake eBay signin page....
Also "saw this great item on eBay, what a laugh, youhave to see this" click the link and wayhay, its an "eBay signin" page...
The stealing of passwords is one thing and you can see how people fall for it.
Thinking you really are going to get a X3 for 20% of retail is jsut greed overruling any common sense.

I see about 20-30 a day from ebay, "Send the goods I paid for", "do you still have it", "dispute resolution", "update your account details", "account suspended".
Then of course there is also the PayPal/Ebay invoice/reciept scam for a several hundred pound/dollar item that of course if you didn't know better you would dispute, by logging in from the link they provide.

I liked once seeing one of those stupid resistors advertised for the Daihatsu Copen, great big text thing then "Does not work on turbo cars".
Yeah, I'll just import a non-turbo Copen from South Africa then.
