1991 Ford Thunderbird MN12 Super-Coupe 3.8 Supercharged Tax till April 2014 / MOT till November 2014 Approx 103k on the clock Bought last year as a jump into american car ownership off a fellow forum member, have done some work to it since then and had intended to keep and play with but need to free up some cash quickish and this was last in.......so first out In the time I've had it the crank sensor has been replaced to cure a running fault and at the same time the radiator was recored, the AC was already disconnected so have ditched the condenser and as much pipework as I could in a vain attempt to loose some weight for the upcoming modifying but the compressor is still present and will need an AC comp delete either bought or made to loose it completely. The autobox currently fitted is suffering from "direct clutch failure" and as such only has two forward(should be four) and reverseNOW CONVERTED TO 5-SP MANUALThere is a fault showing with the elec-assisted shocks which I have yet to look into properly but suspect its just an actuator problem(I have a good set of shocks to go on which aint that old and quite expensive new and multiple spare actuators) BOTH FRONT SHOCK CHANGED AND NO LONGER SHOWING FAULTThe engine is strong as an ox and even with the gearbox fault still quite reasonable on fuel considering the bulk of car it carries around, these are quoted at around 210bhp as standard and this one certainly feels like most of those ponys are still in the stable ;D The exterior bodywork is in quite reasonable order but would benefit from a proper cut back & polish due to someones poor attempt at a machine polish there is a small dent on the LH rear quarter but the rest is suprisingly dent-free Interior is grey leather and drivers seat is quite cracked with age but the rest is in good order and reeeaaaalllly comfortable! A couple of pics(more to come later when weather clears up) After £1200ovno Car is currently located in Radstock, Somerset Any questions just shoot me a PM Steve

"Understeer" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"Oversteer" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"Horsepower" is how fast you hit the fence.
"Torque" is how far you take the fence with you

No one interested at all? Car has a stack of history including bills from before it came over here (car came over just before it hit 2yrs old) I find myself without work yet again so willing to hear sensible offers for it as it is OR converted to manual

I'd love it, keep trying to justify it but I really need a good mpg car, 60 miles all motorway every day.
What sort of mpg will it do?..

Functioning properly they are capable of 27-28mpg and the manual donor vehicle came back at national speeds @ 1800rpm in top so good motorway cruiser

The front seatbelts confuse me lol You get in, close the door, and the seat belt is on a motorised rod which brings the top back to the b-pillar, ensuring the driver is always wearing the seat belt.

Back up again Was trying to work the numbers so I could keep this but alas it just aint happening so any sensible offers people? It really is a good car and with the manual 'box in there along with a few choice mods it would be quite a rapid motor and they handle very well for a yank (semi wishbone w/struts on front and IRS)

THREAD BUMP! I ended up keeping this and have now converted it to 5-speed manual along with fitting a 5% supercharger overdrive pulley and 4x Kuhmo 245/50r16 part-worn tyres Car has recently been dyno'd at 237bhp / 300odd ft/lbs torque and goes quite well Will need a pair of rear silencers as I cut the originals off in prep for some fancy replacements and some light tidying of under-dash wiring but otherwise ready to go Only letting it go as finally have a 70's yank to play with so need funds

Thinking about letting this go yet again after a summer of trouble-free use but don't want to use it with salt on the ground so kind of wasted to me.... Now sitting quite a few inches closer to the ground and wearing Kuhmo 245/50 tyres all round (rears will need changing first as now at about 3mm) Tax runs till end of March and MOT till November (went through with only one advisory) will need a OSR wheel bearing soon as quite a bit of play there but easy to get from Rock Auto for not a lot of dough Couple of other faults that have cropped up recently, I believe the door wiring on the NS has been snagged somehow as the speaker has started making interesting noises with or without the stereo on AND as of last weekend the front sidelights have decided to stop working checked fuse and changed but still no joy so not quite sure whats going on there. Looking for £1200 or damn close Anyone up for it?
