Deluxe's van conversion is the only one sofar that has got my approval

They're not a bad shape, but they are often bought by people who think that because they look a bit like Hot Rods, that they actually are Hot Rods. People who think that PT Cruisers actually are Hot Rods also think that stick-on Hot Rod touches are actual Hot Rod mods. Then those people stick their Hot Rod chrome, flames, portholes, trucker lady silhouettes, confederate flags, Native American dream catchers and country music window stickers and head off to a local car show. Cool(ish) PTs:  (It gets a bit 'stick-on' round the front. This is the best view).  Actual roof-chopped PT.  Photoshop that proves that pretending to be a Hot Rod isn't the only way. |

^^ That´s easy, as his panel cruiser is one of the finest PTs ever shown round here. I tried a virtual panel conversion myself once (and never finished) based on the convertible because of its longer doors:    Someone needs to get this built. |

I look at the convertibles and think that they would be easiest to modify in such a manner to look like the original concept, which I loved.  I wonder if you could use the roof from a 'new' Beetle or something.  this one appears to have a Beetle-esque roof. |

It would certainly be easier to be build a pronto cruizer replica out of a convertible, as you wouldn´t have to make a two-door conversion. Technically wouldn't require an IVA if you leave the roll bar in place. I don't know how they attach? |

The no roll bar lowered convertible ticks all the boxes for me that's the best looking PT so far I reckon

You're not removing anything from the original structure therefore not compromising the monocoque. The acids test would be what the DVLA say when you submit the V5C to change the bodystyle. |

After doing some research, it appears the 'sport bar' is not structural, is only held to the monocoque by a couple of spot welds, and is designed to deflect airflow away from rear seat passengers when the roof is down. It is not a roll over protection device.

The Bonneville speedster is genius. I'm mildly surprised that nobody has built a proper 70s style version, given the car's vague similarity to the Ford Pop.  |
