That pump looks to be one I fitted so it's pretty old! Yeah it's possible the valve is stuck open so the pump is pumping but the stuck valve is just letting the oil go straight back to the tank. If the other pump is the same type, try unscrewing the valves and swapping them over.
The valves in the boot there look like the ones I installed too... amazing how well that stuff has lasted!

Got confused thought you said dump noid, so is the dump valve inside the pin or the pump?

The pin that the solenoid goes onto is the valve. Take the solenoid off and you can unscrew it out of the pump. It might even just have a bit of curse word stuck in it or something.

 This is what it looks like now, a lot of bits have been replaced as and when stuff has broken over the years, just need a general tidy up. I'm only running on three solonoids at the moment but I've got a few acumax ones ill fit tomorrow. Once it's all working again the next thing ill sort is the back |

My guess is its even older than 15 years. I think i have a mag where its white and it should be 97.. I think i told you already how your car, well, former car is one of the first ive seen and how its responsible for my juice illness and J car madness LOL About 15 years ago! That was when it had it's first homebrewed juice. Reds rams all round, a single Rayvern pump which I originally got for my Jetta and valves and hoses from the local Hydraulics supplier. All the valves were sat on the floor in the back in place of the back seat. Such a shonky setup... I've got a pic of it somewhere. So glad you fixed it btw, this car needs to live on. BUT , you really really need to sort that set up, i swear if i wasnt two hours of plane away i would be more than glad to fix it for you, it needs to be tidied up a good bit. As for the actual problem i bet Ed is right. I have the same units in my car and thats exactley what it does if the valve is open. Youcould even remove it and plug the block and return in the tank if you cant fix it soon enuff. If you need plumbing guidance just shout. Sounds like the dump valve on the pump could be stuck open. Does the pump sound like it spinning freely of is it loading up? |

Thanks, was so lucky to have managed to find the parts, all thanks to a random tip off from a banger racing forum. Still can't believe the guy had about 9 he brought over from holland just to banger race, each to there own though Cheers bud, yea may need some advise soon on the plumbing, if this swap over doesn't work. Yea I know I really should have done the back by now, wouldn't take a weekend of fannyin around, my mate who's in to his lows down this ways been on at me to do it we'l have a go at it soon. The Reston the inside is mint now though re huposltered all the seats door cards ect black leather gold stitching (well...faux anyway) So if it didn't work I'd just cap it off or run a small hose from where the valve was back into the top of the tank where it's filled up ? Said it before and ill say it again, love the history with this car, eds put up some cracking photos |

Believe it or not, it was all trimmed out and upholstered in the boot. The pumps were behind a panel with a window in it. The enclosure was lined with white fur and lit with blue neon. Amazingly I don't have a single picture of the inside of the boot when it was done like that. I may have an old negative somewhere with some pics but I'd have to have a search.

Oh really, that would be cool to see ! Need some ideas for when I get round to doing it.  I through on a couple replacement accumax on first off. Then I took the two valves out the pumps and swapped them, the numbers are slightly different on the valves, and holes are in slightly different places. Swapped them over anyway and the back stopped working completely which like you said suggests the valve knackered. Put the valve from the back on to front pump at it went up all wonky but won't come back down . Not sure if its because the valves are slightly different ? Any way going to order a new valve for the front. The melted solonoid on the front pump has obv damaged the valve so, I'm going to replace the valve on the electronic cut off which also over heated and melted that solonoid, hopefully then all good, sound about right ?  |

Hi bud, minor problem with the hydros at the moment but hopefully sort it soon, been off the road so long MOT's gone, should be end of next week if the valves the only prob dying to get it back |

I was thinkin, before you do any other damage LOL, just go to the closest hydros shop near you, I mean industrial hydro shop, with the melt solenoid as a sample and get a new one. Otherwise call Ray, he will sort you. The reason because the bigger 'noid didnt work is because most probably didnt ground. I say most probably not deffo  Hydros are pretty simple btw, until about a year ago, and probably even less, i was somewhat cluless, now that ive learnt how everything works i can barley keep my hands off the stuff |

Getting the right noids was surprisingly easy, just googled the part number and a hydro's website came up with all the bits I needed. Ray's the guy from Rayvern hydro's isn't he ? Getting closer though, front is now working after replaced the dump noid and the drop valve on top the pump (cheers for your help) but still not all corners working, Ganna order the other valve that was overheated incase that's not working properly anymore... Stripped out the back after drawing some diagrams of how it was  Cleaned and primed  Spent over five hours straight stripping the paint off both pumps untill they were shining, Then standardly got distracted and had some beers with the neigboors keeping it ghetto up in Torquay god I need a garage !  Got too dark to paint, god dam Alchole and and curse word legends !  |

Half way there, I know wood is a taboo for a lot of lowriders but figured I'd have it covered up so could just give it a go and see Need to buy couple different size hydraulic hoses so none are in front of the pumps, and some other stuff. The overflow pump won't stay there, haven't put the solonoids for the back pump in yet so will be cemetickle when a can get hold of some more accumax, anyone got any knocking about 24v please lemme know.    |
