Been a while since any updates... The sr20 dream is over - there were just two many differences and restrictions on space to shoehorn the engine and box and stick and pedals into the lil cube and the estimated labour cost of 3.5k went to 5k after full inspection which was over my budget. While the cube was in the shop I had the timing chain replaced though which was the reason for it running badly and what caused me to investigate engine swaps in the first place. I picked it up last night and seems to be pulling well an home the economy is back to normal now. I have to admit to straying and looking at other cars while the cube was poorly and out of favour but on the 17 mile journey home I was getting plenty of looks and a thumbs up from a passenger in a passing car. Also I parked up in a car park under neon street lamps later on and fell back in love, couldn't resist looking back one more time. ? So the ever reliable daily running Cuore should be up for sale in the coming weeks so drop me a message if any interest. It's too new to post an ad on here unfortunately but it's right up a few peoples' street and even if you show no love for it but need something cheap whilst your real love retro is off the road this is the perfect car for you!

Thanks, yeah the US have gone crazy for the newer shape cube but then there were already plenty of Bbs about before them.
Yeah a few people have had problems selling theirs on - it's difficult to get a quick sale - you have to wait for the "right" person.

Cheers, and yep it does (though it houses the normal rocker switches rather than the d-pad and a&b buttons as I originally planned)

Cuore up for sale next week - with a 12 month MOT all being well.
Any interest on here? (Too new to put an ad in classifieds)

So the Cuore flew through the MOT and I spent yesterday morning washing and polishing her ready to advertise on eBay. Here are the results - An hour after taking the photos my wife's brother visited with his girlfriend and it turns out that her 106's head gasket has gone and needed a cheap runaround so completely out if the blue they bought it off me and drive it home when they left! Result but I'm going to miss her, really faithful car clocking up the miles in the past year starting every time on a 70 mile a day commute and great fun to drive. The 3 spokes really suit her too I reckon. Any way other good news is I've made more space in the garage too and the cube fits in there so can tinker in luxury now. Next plan involves creating an 8bit vs zillalife scene out of vinyl on the cube wraparound window....

So I put my Lego head storage box next to a CDA air filter box I've got in the spare room and it got my mind ticking so I ended up using the Lego head as an induction kit instead of the CDA as it was more original. Below are the photos of the build up. I also stickered up the fuse box cover as it looked messy with the overspray I got on it when I sprayed the metal structure behind the headlamps black. As it comes - Hole cut out for the filter intake pipe - Elbow hose fitted - Tidied up the fuse box cover while I was there - I modified the standard air box by cutting a hole in the side with a 51mm hole cutter and sanded the side flat and fitted a hose into it. The standard hole on the front was blocked off by a spare wheel centre I had and popped a zunsport domed badge on to cover a hole in the wheel centre - All fitted with cable ties at three points (a pink cable tie eyebrow ring for one mounting point to make it a bit more punk) -

I love this car.
One of my best mates (you've probably seen her pink Almera turbo on Borbets at Japfest etc) keeps saying she wants a Cube as her daily.Usually after seeing yours at a show.

Cheers captain. Yes I know the one, we were alongside each other in the queue for the entrance to japfest2 last year. That was when I was hoping to get the n/a almera engine in the cube.

Ha, small world. I'll link her to the thread, she'll get a bit excited!
Shame that didn't pan out, that would have been epic. I'm looking forward to seeing the Lego head in the flesh this year...

Apologies for lack of updates some changes going on at the moment. Not sure if I've already mentioned it above but when I fitted my steel wheels in Autumn 2012 I should have removed the spacers because on full drop I ended up causing a big crease in the front wings I did have the dent repaired but the panels are very thin and the dent formed again when the suspension was dropped - I should have waited until the wheels with larger rollign diameter were off completely. Any way I lived with the wings like that as i don't think anyone else noticed the concave panels and body parts are pricey to ship over. luckily a pair popped up on the bay before christmas so I snapped them up. Unfortunately they were silver. I didn't want to risk mismatched paints and since my smart roadster was written off in 2008 I've wanted to bring some mintiness back to fresh&minty. I looked into wraps and spoke to a guy who does wraps who found "Hexis Tiffany Blue" after I sent him a photo of my roadster. A few weeks later and here's how my cube sits (apologies for the dirty wheels) ... I've moved my peep mirrors and swapped the actual mirror with a convex 2" blind spot designed for a truck mirror to give me a spot on view of the road too. (Just need to remove the standard mirrors and flatten the standard base mount triangles.) And before I had the wrap applied I manned up and drilled into the bonnet to get 4 quik-latch bonnet release buttons fitted so I can pop the bonnet off to reveal the engine bay at shows. (I think the bonnet hinged up look takes away from the overall shape of the car) A nice bit of beading after our heavy rain ^^
