Hi all
Been browsing the site a while and following a thread earlier today thought I'd post up some info on my cars. (Not posted a build thread previously as I wasn't sure if they fitted into the retro ethic)
I like to do all mods myself with the exception of bodyshop stuff. (I've tried and failed several times in the past but I always at least give specific requirements to bodyshops rather than just say do want you think for the £££s)
First up I'll start with my previous car history....
1996 - 2000 > 1957 Vespa 125 in White&Dark blue
1997 - 1998 > 1977 Triumph Dolomite 1500HL in Inca Yellow with Sprint wheels and added rust
Sept 2000 - June 2003 > 1999 smart & pulse in lite white & black
Started out like this -
and ended up like this -
June 2003 - Dec 2008 > 2003 smart roadster in shine yellow & black (and then porsche peppermint & black)
Started out like this -
went like this in the middle -
and ended up like this -
and at the very end like this -
Feb 2009 - Feb 2012 > 2005 Nissan cube SX in pearl white
Started out like this -
and ended up like this -
and at the very end like this -
Aug 2011 - current > 2002 Nissan cube EX in beans yellow
The main plan with this was to transfer everything over from the first cube but to have enough styling differences to keep me interested so went for a much more subtle look this time.
Started out like this -
Grills and headlights swapped over -
Seat covers in -
Wheels and suspension being swapped over -
Suspension swapped (Rayvern air ride) -
As it stands -
(Well actually it has steels and saab trims on for winter)
Current project is a new grill and kit car headlights -
In October I got fed up with the amount of fuel the cube was using (30MPG) and how many miles I was putting on it (70 miles a day) so I decided to look into the cheapest but most economical car I could find which resulted in the purchase of the below, which will be the main focus of this build thread -
Dec 2012 - current > 2002 Daihatsu Cuore (L700 Mira) EL in red
Initial cost = £700
Insurance with NCB mirrored across = £735
Currently it's returned 48MPG and 51MPG in the first two tanks of petrol so it's serving it's purpose well!
Initial snag list and progress to follow but first modification I bought is a set of Renault 5 GT Phase 1 alloys from this forum for £60, since which I've stripped the paint off so now look like this -
The current fleet (corsa is the neighbours) -
If you want to see any more photos of the cars past and present then feel free to catch up on www.freshandminty.com or facebook.com/freshandminty but I will update this as I make progress from this point on.
