Howdy doody.. As above really. I have another friend that'll be up for joining in. Combined, we'll be able to fill a small barn (about 10 car's space)
As long as it's dry, is secure and has electricity, we'll be happy.
Anything will be considered so let me know ;D

Good luck. I have a tiny garage, so if you find somewhere and want more people to join you, I would be interested. It's a hard place to find space tho...

I'd be up for somewhere to keep my mg as well not sure on costs etc but surely if there's enough of us a unit on an industrial estate would be affordable? I know there's a place out by Stevenson that's fairly cheap and flexible. Look like old aircraft hangers

Same problem as usual in Oxfordshire . There isnt anywhere and no one knows anyone with a farm or somewhere reasonable -most have been turned into offices or houses anyway. Cheapest unit i found would still be £400 quid a month + buisness rates and that would hold a 3-4 cars so only good for 2 people . About £300 more than i could afford !!!

Me and a friend are also looking, have been for at least a year and are still to find anything suitable! Would be up for sharing with others though if there's enough interest!

Thing is , everyone says there up for sharing but it wouldnt work because someone has to have there name on the paperwork and be responsable for it . And i don't want to be offend anyone , but what would happen if people change there minds , drop out , don't pay there share , damge/'borrow' your stuff , have there dodgey mates round etc. Plus i don't think anyone would rent you anywhere if they think half a dozen different people have a key and sorts turning up etc. Sorry about being negative but thats the reality round here.

Kind of agree here, I used to share a unit with 2 others. We had a 2 post ramp, compressor loads of tools etc. Me and my mate only ever came down on our own if we did cash jobs we used to collect and deliver so kept people turning up there down to a strict minimum. But the other guy used to let anyone come down and there is always the problem of a so called friend of a friend spotting something like in our case a £750 welder and telling their mate down the pub and before you know it its gone and nobody saw a thing...... I'm on my own now in Rutland area with 2 post ramp, tyre machine, wheel balancer compressor, welder, press, diag kit, sun tuner looking for a bigger place and a share if possible but you need to find like minded people with a huge amount of trust!

If it helps, I'm also seeking some space in the same region for a potential campervan purchase(I'm in abingdon). I havent the space to keep it at home and I can hardly keep the thing on the road, it needs a bit of work.
I'm not after anything overly fancy, shelter would be ideal but 240v electricity and permission to carry out light restoration on said vehicle at the site would be essential

All the things mentioned above make it hard to share with strangers i know only too well , then theres the 1 were the mate who brings all his dodgy mates around after a session at the pub and rags the cars , projects etc etc all over the place and straight into the landlords car at around 2 in the morning .............But the 1 that beats them all is when you try and collect the rent money from others suddenly you don't see them or they don't answer there phones and when you do get them its "you pay it n ill give it you tomorrow" and guess what ........you all know the answer don't you .............

I forgot I posted this thread I understand similar circumstances all too well, stuff goin missin, etc.. It's a right b*tch. The understanding I'd have is that private work be carried out elsewhere. This'd be a project place only I think a meet is a spot on idea, what do you think if we all have a look at what's about, bring it along and see what could be arranged? It could be ten of us meeting, but 4-5 spaces being rented. The problem will be price more than availability. If not, how about a local meet anyway? Or where's the nearest? ;D

There was a massive unit up for rent on the big site at Culham a while back, big enough for everyone above, might still be available.

Yes , its not a problem if you say 10 people £100 each . But one persons name has to go on the paper at the end of the day . And a place like that incures buisiness rates ££££££ . I think that a big group wouldnt work , that area 52 only works because someone pays for it at the end of the day . It would be a a case of trying to find small individual places , but the crunch realistically is you will need £250ish a month each to get you a 2 1/2 cars size space , maybe cheaper if you do find the elusive friendly farmer!!!!!!!

There's a barn for rent out near Wantage, about 100 sq. m. with power. The owner/farmer typically unhelpful when I phoned, my enqiury of cost was met with a response of "depends what you want it for" Anyway it's too big and probably too expensive for me. If anybody's interested let me know and I'll PM the number. I may be up for a share if anyone needed help with the rent but I'm really only looking for storage for 1 or 2 cars and couldn't afford to have my name "on the rent book" as it were if the preverbial hit the fan and I ended up being responsible for the whole rent.

What I'm suggesting, is that not maybe a really large space is necessary. We could a find smaller locations that groups within all of us that've posted on this thread (who are interested), could share space, depending on their needs, etc. Some may need to work on their cars, some may need to just store their cars. I love the idea of a big area for everyone, but it just may not be practical for some. As far as tools go, We'll just have to lock our tools up when we're not there, and all chip in for stuff that we'll all use, like compressors and lightbulbs.
