Hello
I am advertising the above for a friend of mine, it sustained a rear end shunt about 4 weeks ago and has been declared a CAT C by the insurance company. It is still in daily use at the moment and runs like a sewing machine.
It is an automatic in metallic green with charcoal interior, I shall post some pictures later of the damage etc, overall it's in fine fettle with nice cross spokes on it. Either fix up or break for spares etc. It's the E39 variant with the 2.8 lump up front.

Has it been VIC tested?

mate hasn't been repaired so wouldn't have been vic tested. VIC test is to check the adequacy of the repair to make sure it is safe etc to go back on the road and also to make sure the parts that have been fitted to the car aren't off another car that was stolen etc.

Any offers before it goes to the crusher in the sky?

What's the extent of the damage under the bumper ?

If anyone buys this to break it, I would be interested in a number of parts, Exhaust,steering rack and a few other bits.(not £400 worth of parts so I wont insult the seller with a lower offer!)

A VIC doesn't check the roadworthyness or standard of repair to a vehicle, just that the vehicle is the one it's suppost to be, hence VIC- Vehicle Identity Check.

Nope... the write off invalidates the MOT and the V52 (logbook) to get a new V52 you have to take it to a vosa centre for a VIC check - a quick official check the chassis numbers match and haven't been messed with, they will then allow you to get a V52, then you can take it for an MOT test

TBH it's quite a simple process, it looks like you could have half an hour at that with a bag of cable ties and it would pass, worth £400 of anyones money

No you can drive it, and you can mot it before a vic check and no a vic check does NOT cover the repair of the vehicle, they only check the vehicles I.D thats it, 10 minutes for 41 quid! but this includes the new V5 doc.

I always thought you have to MOT car before VIC as MOT man check roadworthiness and VIC tester just ID. Anyway that's cheap for what it is. GLWS
