the lithium battery in most hybrids, isn't much larger than the battery in a modern renault espace.... Weighs about the same too. Petrol's ridiculously explosive too - don't see you complaining about that?

Batteries already exist that will do the job of powering a car tolerably well, and they are an established technology which is available at reasonable prices to the average motorist. They integrate quite easily with our very large existing electricity grid, and require little to no new infrastructure. On the other hand, rolling out a hydrogen distribution infrastructure to provide compressed or liquid hydrogen at every service station in the world would be a logistical nightmare which doesn't bear thinking about. Hydrogen is difficult to handle in any useful format, because it either needs to be compressed to an extremely high pressure, or cooled to -253 degrees Celsius. Neither of these things are simple to achieve on the forecourt of your local service station. Similarly, the hydrogen storage tank in the car will be quite expensive and large, depending on how it is designed. If the car burns the hydrogen in a combustion engine, then it will be inefficient. If you choose to use a fuel cell, then the cost of the car is increased still further again, along with the demand for rare metals. If current fuel cell technology was used, then there are probably not sufficient global supplies of the rare metals required (like platinum) to re-power every existing car and truck with fuel cells. Reasonable price ? you seen the cost af a replacement battery bank for the prius ? £5K every 5 years is a lot of servicing and fuel in a "normaly fueled" vehical. lots of cabbys in london use priouss (priori?) and make dam well sure they sell em after 4ish years and not cos of the millage they've done.

I have seen such a convertor,but got no pictures of it,a guy sell's them for about 300 euros and the part is used to help out the petrol and reduce comsumption up to 40 %...

Even those of us using leasure batteries in boats and vans would rather buy the cheap ones that only last three years rather than the 'kin expensive deep cycle ones that need proper looking after and still only last 5 years. :S

Don't doubt that we will crack all sorts of "impossible" techs and sooner than many people think, advances are coming faster and faster these days. These things will be everywhere soon I reckon, you could wrap a hybrid car in these and run much smaller batteries. www.theregister.co.uk/2012/12/24/peel_stick_solar_cell/It's not "the future" untill there are mechs and robots routinely stomping around
