Anyone interested in a circa 1969 Raleigh RSW16 ? Needs tidy up (paint / chrome polish) but perfectly usable without after a service. Not total heap just old. Brand new, unfitted, tyres (actually two Chopper front items) and tubes. Will sort out pics later (not driving at present, voluntary for health reasons, it's stored away from home in lock-up and my mobility buggy isn't very good in snow !). The intention was to adapt to add electric power but I'm reluctantly accepting I'll never be able to ride it hence selling. I'd accept £30.

managed to take my old apollo attack 3000 down the moors for a little ride last week. this cost me the grand sum of £10 in fully working order. Sold it the day after that pic haha for £20. as much as I loved it, the ride was horrible and it just felt low quality on anything other than smooth tarmac so looking at a better retro now. and truth be told the 20" frame is slightly too big for me I think.

Some great bikes in this thread I have this bike which isn't old at all but I fancied a cruiser I could happily do a few miles on. A pub bike! It's a 2010 Electra Townie single speed, coaster brake with a few custom features. Front brakes replaced with skulls. Brooks saddle. Schwalbe tyres. Retro front light (internal batteries) It's got an aluminium frame and with no gears or brakes as such, it's pretty light

I finally managed to get a new mountain bike after months of budget bin jobbies ;D
Not got pics yet but will post some when I manage to get out on it. But its a year 2000 marin muirwoods - and for those in the know its the one with the fantastic orange and yellow paintwork.

I saw that on Retrobike, I think it's bloody lovely! Could do with a Brooks, though.

GooseGog and Mike: pair of stunning bikes there, I'd love to knock something up like that. Right, some more recent acquisitions/departures: Can't remember if I mentioned this one before, but had it a while and it's near the back of the 'to do list', a Dawes Fleur: dawes fleur 2 by Cavlover1, on Flickr Fortune Roadstar 12 speed road bike. Can't find any info on these at all, it's an adult sized bike and about 2 years old. Actually quite a nice little ride but it'll be gone as soon as a buyer appears! fortune road star cycle by Cavlover1, on Flickr Bargain bin 70s/80s Raleigh. Bit rough but worked ok, I had the snazzy 700C wheels off though for the Peugeot Equipe, which I sold recently. I just need to get some tyres for this (Raleigh) now to get it useable again: r33 by Cavlover1, on Flickr 1950s (I think) Raleigh. Rough as you like but has some charm under that house paint! unknown Raleigh is unkown by Cavlover1, on Flickr Love this, yet another Raleigh road bike (I used to call them racers in my day!) which I've not heard of before. Raleigh must have been knocking out newly badged models at the rate of about 15 a week or something at one point! This is a Raleigh Phantom, nice shade of pale blue and I think I will get some new tyres and just ride it 'as is' after a basic service. raleigh phantom by Cavlover1, on Flickr And the lastest purchase (picking it up this morning) is this Dawes Legend. Has some bits missing, i.e seat and brake cable but I will have a 'period' seat for it here and a new brake cable. Once again it needs tyres but that's no biggie: dawes legend by Cavlover1, on Flickr Finally, if anyone knows of a cheap source of new 27" tyres, please get in touch, thank you.

I'll have to have a look, Lae. Offhand I'm not sure, but I have to get it out of the garage soon anyway as someone's expressed an interest in it and I have something lined up to replace it!

i thought you might appreciate this, saved from languishing in a shed at my nans for the last 25 years. its a 1981 raleigh bomber, which i'm guessing was aping the old 1950 klunker style bikes, so does that make it double retro ? i like the period features of raleigh grifter grips, ever-ready lamps and those weird luminous brushes round the hubs currently researching some new rims, or rechroming the originals

That Bomber is fantastic, I love quirky stuff like that! I've found using one of these... Along with a decent soaking in car polish gets a fair bit of surface rust off. It's not perfect and it's quite hard work, but it does do a pretty good job. Got the Dawes legend back today, it's been at the local ace cycle repairman's where he's removed, cleaned and regreased the crank, fitted another rear mech (I knackered the last one!) and fitted new tyres, as well as tuning the gears in. It rides really nicely now and it's a lovely bit of kit... dawes legend right new tyres service 12 speed by Cavlover1, on Flickr

i have tried tinfoil and it works surprisingly but i think thats why its become a tip, because it surprisingly works, it doesnt do that job that easily though. brillo pads with soap work the best. i clean rusty chrome day in day out at the moment and it really is the best way to do it, plus its cheap. similar state of rust for an example, before and after

You do know that the Dawes has had a serious front-end crash, right?

You do know that the Dawes has had a serious front-end crash, right? I thought it looked 'odd' but the bike repair fella reckoned it was ok and he's a mate of mine.
