Only because he did a good few quick large donuts, AFAIK after everyone had had a talking to by the beach marshall bloke.
If he didn't talk to the escort chap before he had a slide then I guess we can chill out a bit. It doesn't however change the fact that the escort sliding around was the tipping point for the beach supervisor. After he told off the guy in the escort, he kicked us all off as well.
Unfortunate timing really. Those that were just chilling and chatting were kicked off because the escort was the last straw. Hence why we're all a little brassed off.
In the escort chaps defense, I know he can drive well, as the amount of times I've seen the car at drift and track days, he is in control. But it still doesn't change the fact it was a relatively busy "public car park" with kids etc still about.

Without starting the whole drift debate, which i don't want to get into
But on a surfact like sand, at highspeed, after breaking traction. No one is "in control" IMO. It's just "best guess".
That aside, you're right. It's a public place, no excuses.

I wasn't there and didn't realise the mk2 Escort was the catalyst for forced exodus. Just commenting on how I remember it standing out at C Combe. As ChasR noted, on a positive note, the turnout looked great and interesting to see the range of tin lined up there. Personally, I'm really feeling the mk2 Cavs - they look unusually clean too!

The guy in the mk2 was by no means the only one, there were a few doing it unfortunately, but he did it after the final warning by the beach warden hence the polite request that everyone leave. Even though I was there right until the end, I barely saw any of the other cars, I spent so much time chatting with some great people and making new friends it was just an awesome day out ;D |

It was An awesome event this year, cool cars & great company & hopefully it'll eventually be remembered for the positives. Great pics people have posted, it really catches some of the atmosphere Hopefully be able to catch some of the Midlands convoy soon |

Tried to fit this into a journey to devon this weekend but i couldn't make it. Great pics, gutted.
If i had though, i'd probably have been one of those to get my plate taken down - no it's not pendine sands but it is a beach ffs! Tide comes in, tide goes out, new surface. Apart from running over the odd shark i'm struggling to see the problem from here.. 15mph?! What?!
Course, i wouldn't have been close enough to affect/concern/disrespect anyone else there though, (apart from the jobsworths) that's just being a dick. So if there is another one next year, to avoid upsetting the hi-viz brigade i'd better stay away..

Attitudes like that are the main reason there won't be another one. Its got naff-all to do with being a 'jobsworth' or a 'hi-vis', and everything to do with being a responsible adult. The beach in this case is a public facility for everyone to enjoy, not just a few dickheads who think its fun to drive like a twunt in front of families, children and animals. If You want to show off, go to a drift day. That's the last word from me on the Beach Party. Ever. |

I think you've totally missed the point, why don't you go to Barrow beach every Sunday and go hooning? An audience. That's why. I think a perfect reason was apparent last Sunday as to why this rule was present: We got chucked off. All of us. And the event is never happening again. Is the no hooning rule hard to understand now? |
