Just taken out a policy on a new car and the insurer is asking for evidence of my no claims bonus, never had to prove it before but I can understand that. However I already have a policy on another car and it turns out you can only use no claims on one car? Seems ridiculous but then everyone knows insurance companies are a bunch of rotters so I dig that as well..
How do I get evidence of my no claims bonus? Contact the two different companies I was with for the last two years ad ask for paper copies? Do I need to contact my existing insurer and tell them I'm transfering my ncb over to another company/vehicle?
It's all very confusing..
Cheers

Proof is on your renewal notice or give them a ring & ask for it. Yes you can only have NCB on one policy at a time, although some companies will give you a discount if you insure both cars with them. Adrian Flux did that for me a couple of years ago, had my daily with them with NCB & they gave me a 'shadow' discount as they called it on my 2nd car.

Thats bullderdash them asking ,They have it on record Just ring the company you used before and request it sent To you .Perhaps the ncb is already in place on your other car? Maybe Consider a policy that allows multi cars ?

Yeah I guess I'm gonna have to cancel the policy on my other car so as to retrieve the NCB.. I wonder if I could then take out a new policy with my new insurer and get said "shadow discount" or whatever..
I tell you what and I know loads of people say this all the time but I curse word hate car insurers. They make up their own prices and rules which seem to change by the hour and you HAVE to pay it. Surely if I haven't had a claim in however many years then that should apply to however many cars I have.. not just one at a time? Bloody rascals they are...
I will contact my previous company and get them to send it to me I guess.
Cheers guys
