Wow, you're right! I've never noticed that before! The 117 is a Giugiaro design but isn't the Fiat Pininfarina?

Mazda 121: ...Ford Fiesta mk4: more than a styling-coincidence there is no doubt these two are actually one-and-the-same design. A Ford Fiesta for people who want a small car but it HAS to be a Mazda ;D

Proton Saga Maserati Biturbo The resemblance is much more pronounced from the rear, but Maserati owners havent put many rear shots on the www, probably because it looks like a Proton Saga.

Was the Proton ever badged a Saga? I've heard it called that lots of times but never seen one badged up. Amazing bit of foresight by Proton there, naming their car after their primary customer age-groups favourite travel/insurance/general-old-folks-stuff company! ;D

Couldnt remember the name of the model so went to the Wikipedia page for Proton Cars. My guess is they werent badged as Sagas in the UK because like you I've never seen one with that badge.

Pininfarina sold the same design to Pug and BMC which is why the A60 and the 404 look so similar.

Did the 412 come before the 613? If so, payback for the Beetle being a stolen Tatra design in the first place!

Did the 412 come before the 613? If so, payback for the Beetle being a stolen Tatra design in the first place! Sort of.... the 412 came out in about '72 I think? The Tatra 613 was released in 1973 but started development in 1968 (when the VW 411 was released) so I think they were very close. The Tatra was styled by Vignale in Italy! I've owned both and they're similar in may ways, the boot is huge and the McPherson struts are very substantial. They're both roomy inside with comfortable seats and they both feel big. But the Tatra has a V8, which will always sound better than a flat 4, and it's semi-mid mounted so handling isn't a worry. I always found the 412 to have lots of understeer and then quite a lot of oversteer, you couldn't always tell when it would change from one to the other, either ;D

Aside from the usual stuff, the one that amazed me the last time one of these threads came up (because I'd never noticed it before) was this one: Datsun Cherry Coupe: Citroen SM: My other favourite has to be: Ford Mustang: Toyota Celica: Shouldn't Toyota now make a retro Celica that looks like the new retro Mustang? ;D
