I have to admit I've really wound some people up in the past, sometimes with friends in other cars helping me. As much as I do get pangs of vigilante I do try to resist now, I couldn't bare causing an accident. Still do get a bit Charles Bronson now and then.

I nearly stuck someone on a traffic island once. Was driving my Anglia with my brother in his Mk1 Escort behind me. I could see this guy trying to get round my brother and when he saw there were two of us he decided to try and 'take' the two of us in one go. Bear in mind this is a 30mph area in London. So I dropped it a gear and nailed it as he came past and he was going about 50 towards the traffic island with me right next to him. I could see him suddenly sh!t himself and he was going way too fast to stop. I belted the brakes to save him, he skidded one way then the other with the guy int he back flying all over the place then pulled over and stopped, clearly shaking. I almost had to stop as well me and my passenger were laughing so much

i don't think the cameras help anyone to be honest i've seen more accidents caused by them than have seen them stop . what is needed is more police on the road that can stop people for driving dangerously i don't think the speed is the issue anymore people spend most of thier time nowdays looking at the side of the road for the scamers instead of looking were they are actualy going its the level of driving ability that has dropped and putting more scameras up will not cure this problem

My point was that if they were forced to enforce speed limits there would be a lot less pointless limits like the Oxfordshire A roads and probably less cameras too.

I spent Sunday driving to and from Luton (don't ask ! ) using the M.6 and M.1.It is nice to know we have the same two lane motorway system as or European freinds because mindless pratts who think lane two is nice at 55/65 mph with nothing in lane one for a few miles (as if they were capable of overtaking at that speed !) The amount of jams caused by these knob-heads is not only annoying but also dangerous ! Did i drift fron the main subject or do you all feel the same ? It was funny lining up in lane one bonnet to bonnet to see if the point had been made though

Fuc*sticks... I've resisted posting so far, but this is the third thread in almost as many weeks that I've viewed and just been annoyed I have done about 25-40K a year for the last ten or so years, all weathers, all over the country. Welcome to driving in England amigos. Whether you like it or not, get used to it, or do something about it. Me? I'm quitting the country.... Put up or shut up. As for the BMW comments... Sweeping generalisation anybody? I've been cut-up, tail gated, ignored and generally abused by all ages and makes over the years. Stop whingeing and let's get back to some good old fashioned retro-riding eh?

TBH my BMW comments were based on observation, see a tw@t hereabouts and 8/10 it's a new BMW. Does not apply to BMW Motorrad though

I don't think the cameras help anyone to be honest i've seen more accidents caused by them than have seen them stop . Cameras don't cause accidents, people driving like idiots do. Bumbling along half asleep /yakking on the mobile/applying makeup/whatever at 45 in a 30 while crusing happily past all the warning signssuddenly spot the yellow box and bang - on go the anchors. Same as people who panic brake on motorways every time they see an ambulace/motorway maintenance van/white Volvo. Yup 90 to 60 in 2 seconds right in front of me, realise its not a cop vehcilee and speed off again. A special place is reserved in hell for them as well. Claiming that Cameras cause accidents is the same logic that says "joy riders" crashing is the fault of the cops. Nope its the fault of the dickhead who stole the car and proceded to drive like a tw@ in it. I agree, more cops are needed on the roads. I also think less drivers whould be a good one too. Thing is "more coppers" doesn't seem to fit with the plans of our beloved government. They'd rather play boing policeman in middle eastern countries - like thats not costing us billions... Team Blair, World Police... SPECs cameras are fine so long as - 1. The "ticket level" has been set right 2. your numberplate is visible and legible. 3. you don't change lanes between cameras. In a 40 MPH limit they may be set to issue tickets at anything from 41 to 141 MPH, who knows? dirty plates, unreadable fonts, cloned plates or just plain driving too close to the vehicle in front can prevent the plate being recognising by the camera. As can fog and spray of course. Currently the law is badly phrased and if you change lanes betwen the cameras they cannot prosecute you. This law is being reworded so it can't be interpreted that way.

BMWs, Mercs, Audis, Volvos, most Japanese brands especially Subaru, the list goes on. People just like to pick on BMWs for some reason.

People just like to pick on BMWs for some reason. Because they deserve it imo. It's just too renowned not to be true. I mean this isn't some viscous anti BMW propaganda. But that said I do imagine a lot of perfectly normal human beings buy BMW's with the intention they'll contribute something towards a better more Christian motoring image. But then they get to the end of the road and see everyone glaring at them and assuming they are about to cut them up, tailgate them, undertake them etc... And they think well sod it I'll just be a total child born out of wedlock since everyone will assume I am one anyway. I do think we turn BMW drivers into the people we hate. I know some very nice people who drive BMW's but of course how they behave once they are out there on the road, who knows. All the above said with tongue firmly in cheek!

Its all the mini-executive cars basically. Just so happens that the most popular is the BMW 3-series, followed by the Audi A4, Merc C-class and now the Volvo V40 / Saab 9-3, new Impreza WRX, Lexus IS etc.

Dunno, I was about run oiff the road by a fat grey haired sod in a Bentley Mulsane Turbo a few years ago. He was really upset I dared to be in his lane and I swear he would have hit me out of sheer bloody mindedness to prove apoint if I hadn't gotten out of his way.
S class Mercs 7 series BMWs, Porsches, Range Rover Sports and all manner of things can also be real sods to other motorists.

Audis are the new BMWs I've found of late. But I think any car where someone has paid extra for the badge has the potential to have an idiot at the helm. You don't see Skoda Octavias being driven by nutters.

Dunno, I was about run oiff the road by a fat grey haired sod in a Bentley Mulsane Turbo a few years ago. A month or so ago I had one of those new VW Bentley's come hurtling toward me down a narrow street (well it was narrow with that on it). I had to swerve out the way. But I do think that may have been a genuine gangster on the run then.

A lot of Octavias are taxis, ergo you do see them driven by nutters!
Mini exec cars seem to be a pain on high speed roads but thats probably a lot to do with 50mph feeling like 5mph in these cars, if they were made to feel a bit more twitchy and vague that might get the drivers to tone it down a bit.
In urban areas youre more likely to be harassed by something rusty and obscure- without being retro- as scrotebags and morons tend to drive whatever unloved old lemon their £100 will buy them. Sounds like snobbery to £100 cars - it isnt, but we all the know the special breed of tossbag that buys a cheap deathtrap with no MOT but a bit of tax and drives it beyond its limits round housing estates. Its like semi-legal joyriding.
