;D So I just 'won' a random assortment of old junk ClickNow it will either be: (a) a complete treasure trove that will earn me good bucks or (more likely) (b) a shed full of un-usable, broken landfill. Either way, £1.20, £50 van hire and a 200 mile round trip is the only way I'm gonna find out! C'mon - anyone else ever taken a random chance on old car stuff? Won? Lost? Interesting story?? LET'S HEAR IT!! PS. Note to Russell - Book some leave for next weekend. Snouts and snacks will be provided.

There used to be a Rover dealership in a nearby town. I'm very good friends with the guys that sprayed my shell and they were friendly with the owners of the Rover garage. They aquired all the old stock from the Rover garage when it closed and they said i could have it (many years after it closed).
So i gladly went to collect this 'Goldmine' but there were only 2 mini parts in the whole big box, a broken wiper motor and a Mk3 rear light! The rest was useless rover tat! :lol
Should really set up an eBay account and start selling it and get some Feedback!

Lol! Shame its not closer to you, would be a sure fire winner then! But anything VW has got to be worth a £50 gamble IMO. I baught my MG Mongtego blind, turned out to be a good deal, especially since the seller poled up to my gaff last week with about 10 boxes of Montego treasure for free! Theres alsorts in there, new stuff, old stuff, well good! I love rifling through boxes of tat

To make my contributions on this thread worthwhile, I bought the Datsun I had unseen on ebay. Great car but as rusty as a fishermans bucket. I managed to punt it on for a small loss. I later discovered the 'Nissan enthusiast' I sold it to had bangered it.

you didnt fall for the old "enthusiast" line did you?? Well no - he had a wad of cash and I was annoyed with the number of holes in it. Still a bit annoying though.

I advertised a finny merc on OZ ebay,I got no bids the first time and the second got one bid,The winning bidder phoned me and asked if he could drive it home... Well.." no ". I said,"bring a truck and a trailer.for the parts". He turned up with a Merc ML and car trailer. We filled the finny with parts, the ML with more parts and he still had to come back and get two more loads. All good used parts and worth a fortune in...germany. All for $150 AUD.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

I knew someone who had been asked to clear out a motor factor supplier`s warehouse a bit ago, and I gave him 50 quid I think to help him clear it. Just boxes of mystery gear. Upon opening it up I realised I would never run out of tax disc holders, I would never buy enough Primeras to use up all the O/S lower wishbones, and I could give every customer a complimentary tyre pressure gauge and collapsible universal dog guard, forever, whether they bought a car or not. (There was some other stuff it didnt work out too bad on the whole)

****update**** I've just learned from the seller that this Hyundai has an 'invisible reserve' on it of £250 AND also that it has been sold through the local paper. Hmmm.

(There was some other stuff it didnt work out too bad on the whole) Id love to get to do soemthing like that! one mans junk is my treasure I got to clear out the old locker room at work the otherday, it was full of lockers from people who hadent worked at the company for 30years or more! some dated back to the 70s and we managed to work out that some of them belonged to people who died years ago. Had great fun breaking them open and rifeling through the tons of 'junk' found loads of retro stuff, tools, copys of magazines from the 80s i even managed to find a old street machine sticker in one I'm such a traveller

That locker clearance sounds fascinating in a weird way. That would be like my old desk at the Evening Post being cleared out in 27 years time. Oh I hope they do it before then it wasnt nice in those drawers when I left it will be none too fresh by then.
Shame about the Hyundai Pony, unkillable in my experience. Just out of interest Mr Bo11ox, are you gonna leave him a bit of negative for that?

That looks like an ace day out... Even if it turns out to be just a bunch of rotten grapes. Can't say I've ever bought anything outstanding blind, but with my buying habits there's still plenty of time. Good luck with it, I'm sure we'll get to see the results...

Have you got his address via paypal? I'm in Rainham so could go around and see if it has actually sold, or he's just saying that as he didn't get the price he wanted.
