Hi there, been meaning to post my project on this 'ere forum for ages but been flat out. The car is a production EV (electric vehicle) from the 1970s called an Enfield ECC8000. ECC stands for electric city car apparently. They made less than 120 and all were hand made in either Greece or the Isle of Wight. After seeing the White Zombie EV Datsun in the USA, I fancied building a British EV hot rod for ages. These Enfields don't come up for sale often so it took almost 2 years to find the right car. It was flood damaged and mechanically dead. Perfect, then, for a restoration/resurrection into what will be a street legal drag car. One I can still pop to the chip shop in, but hopefully do at least 12s in on the strip. For the full info please go to www.flux-capacitor.co.uk and click the blog for the latest build info. It's a bit different. Hope you guys dig it. And yes, it's still electric powered.... As purchased: As of now:

Cheers guys - lots more blog progress to come. Car is still with the standard unchopped aluminoum body and 75% of the original box tube chassis. Originally it was a four link rear end from the factory, with Reliant/Bond Bug back axle. We've replaced with a race four link and custom narrowed Ford 9" rear end. Roll cage tied to chassis.
The original motor has been changed for twin motors, with slight modms made for them to live in the same trans tunnel location.
Original interior, but with harnesses!

I've been following the blog for a while Jonny, it's a fantastic project and it's all starting to come together nicely! Are you using batteries or capacitors? I know WZ uses LiPo cells (or at least it did the last time I checked) but I imagine finding suitable batteries for the strip? Amazing! That is soooo cool. How for do you think it will go between charges? Anything over a quarter mile should be sufficient!

Amazing! Love that the body was left intact, and am surprised it was alloy given such low numbers & the relative simplicity/popularity of Fiberglass. Big wheels look awesome in those little wheelarches. Amazing deep, narrow windscreen would be hard to find in any other car, but whats is all the detail at the lower-middle of it?

Cheers! In its day the Enfield cost well over twice the price of a Mini. In fact you could have specced a 3.0-litre Capri to the nines. As a result it didn't sell too well and was mostly purchased by the Electricity Councils as test/pool vehicles. Mine was one of those - destined to live around the Brighton area with SEEBoard (South East Electricity Board). Batts are the current dilemma as we want something as light and powerful as poss. Li-po is probably the way forward. Range totally depends on how we want to wire it for. As it will be a road legal race car, the range has to suffer in the name of short bursts of performance. I want a range of 15-20 miles if poss for cruises etc. There is no transmission. Just a 6" propshaft out the back motor and into the 9" Ford axle. Windscreen is totally unique to the car from what everyone tells me. It's therefore rare as doll's plop. I'm having a lexan one made over winter. All the other windows are already Lexan (from Plastics 4 Performance). Front suspension is original modded Hillman Imp with AVO shocks. Wheels were 10s originally, but now 12s up front and 14s rear. Original '70s slot mags, but you knew that. Check the www.flux-capacitor.co.uk/blog.php for more.

This is incredible! Always liked the look of these things anyway (because I'm SICK) so nice to see one getting some love. Looks ruddy fit on the slots. Weirdly, the photo above seems to have been taken on the road I used to live on a couple of years ago. Spooky! goo.gl/maps/j1bdq
