I'm dredging this thread up because I've been emailing the guy at Framptons all evening about a set of plates I want for my Golf. Turns out they are the Sercks ones, he can't do them and doesn't know anyone who can. Shame! I really wanted some for my Golf. I found this thread cos it's the top result in google for "sercks plates" ;D These are they, I scanned them in for him to show him exactly what I was after: Gutted I can't get them!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Those pics you posted Darren, the top and bottom ones are different to the middle two? Easiest to see in 9's, 5's and 6's - the Serck font is much more simple and doesn't have a final curve to the letter. I too am a bit of a plate font geek I'm afraid! AlistairK - remember the Hooleys Ford plates from Nottingham, with the small "H" between letter groups? They'd never get away with that these days....

I remember them well! ;D My old Mk3 Escort had pressed Serck plates. I really hope someone still does them as they're a little bit of automotive history!

Would'nt cost many 1000s to make a press up for those. Just need pics of every letter to copy

My daily has those type plates. I have the font on my old Mac, so in theory it would just take a little time to make the dies of each letter and get them stamped out pronto.

Maybe looking outside of the UK at other countries where these fonts and styles are still in use is an option.

Would be ace to get some of these made up, they would be a great finishing touch to any 80's resto. I'd defo buy some. I bet those SPECS cameras struggle with them too, an added bonus.

OOOHHH Kind of on topic, My motor is a 74, I recently fitted Black and silver pressed ally ones to it. Now I know these are supposed to be for pre 72's or something but is this an MOT failure or just a mindless copper pulling incident in the future.
Got my MOT soon you see and if they can fail me for it then I will replace them with my old ones.

technically yes to both MOT and copper but on an MGB I bet they don't even think twice about it. Its numpties with E36 beemers with them on that need a slap, and probably get one,
