Dear RR'ers
I am embarking on a project to garner as many films as possible from youtube depicting the POV out the front window of car journeys worldwide.
I've contacted around 250 potential contributors around the globe so far and have received the go ahead from over 30 channel owners to use their content. Their contributions number some 209 films and luckily for me, a number of them are well traveled and like me have the perverse joy of sticking a camera on the dashboard. Hence...
The idea is to show the films along with an installation. My globe of cars. I'm not an artist by trade but I thought what the heck, I thought it might be a good idea and I've had some encouragement from those in the field.
Get ready...
So as you can see, I cam across a massive perspex globe and stuck my toy cars/vehicles on it. And a fair few from carboot sales, a few off ebay and a couple of donations. All the models are legit, on the road cars etc. None of those whacky racer type things from Matchbox in the 70's.
Back to the film requests.
The films depict all sorts of journeys from Siberia to Sydney Harbour Bridge so I'm wondering if the RR's from around the world might like to get involved. If you have a journey, or have a link on youtube other than what I've got in my two folders...

please let me know, upload it and send me a link. brixtonsaint on youtube or here will do.
The idea is to edit together a monumental global journey. I'll keep the soundtrack idea to myself for now.
What I'df like is to add a some retrorides in front of the lens. I reckon that would add greatly to the mix of most of the modern metal that is depicted in most of the uploaded films. So if you're in a convoy with mates wedge (I take ball of bluetac) your phone or camera on the dash, get your passenger to hold it, however you like and grab a journey. The more interesting the better but even a motorway journey with distance signs has its merits.
I'd love to see some archive as well so if you're grandad or dad filmed out the front window on an 8mm, 16mm, early or early camcorder, if it's already on disc or drive (I'm not asking anyone to go to any expense) I'd love to include it.
Quality of image, steadiness of shot are both completely not an issue. It is about the filmmakers journey, not a highly produced production, saying that if you're lucky enough to own a top end dslr or you know the owner of the rights to Steve McQueen's Bullit chase or Rendezvous and you show them it and they say "hell yeah, let this dude use it", I'll be glad to use them.
I have this almost self harming desire to achieve a film from every country and lasting 24 hours. We'll see about that though. I've ticked off footage from every continent so that's an achievement I guess.
Hope you like the idea and more importantly want to get involved.
All the best
