Been mulling this over alot and I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not using the truck enough to warrent having it.
So, it is a 2000 (V) LDV 400 Convoy recovery truck with a max. weight of 3500kg, so you can drive it on a regular car licence. It has 10 months MOT on it and it passed with no advisorys. It is also taxed until July 2013. It has been a reliable old thing in the year and a bit I've had it. Only issues have been the immoblier tripped out but this is sorted now and about a month ago the passanger front tyre blew the valve out. The tyre wasn't in the best condition anyway so it had a brand new one on. I'll get on with some deatils.
Engine
The engine is in fantastic working order. It has the bulletproof 2.5di transit banana engine. The tacho shows 177k km's so it'll be around 110k miles. It is due a service, so I'll sort that out before it is sold. It is pretty good on fuel too, it'll do about 400 miles to a £75-80 tank. That's 200 miles empty, 200 miles loaded.
Gearbox
The gearbox is in great condition. Clutch works as it should and it selects all of the gears fine and stays in all the gears. In first and reverse there is a little bit of a judder, but only if your going from a standstill and moving off.
Brakes
The brakes well. I got a mate to have a look at them on his ramp before the MOT as they were a little spongy. a few minutes with a spanner and they are pretty good now. Handbrake is really good.
Steering & suspension
The steering is fantastic, it's so light with the power steering it feels like a Corsa rather than a big ol' truck.
Body
There are a few scabs and dinks around it, but what do you expect, it's british and it's a working vehicle. It had some welding under the cab for the MOT which I was told was all done. After a bit of poking round earlier, I've found some behind the drivers seat and some under the batterys. The chassis is solid everywhere Though. The bed is in good condition and is a really solid thing. The measurements of the bed is 4.3m length x 1.95m wide. It has the two ramps too which are the ladder style ones that go in sideways on the drivers side. It has a 8ton (will double check) winch on it and it's never not pulled anything onto the bed. It has never not worked, but you need to tap it sometimes. It has some becons on the roof, they did work but have stopped now, so probably just a fuse.
Wheels
Well, there bog standard steels. Tyres are all good and as I said before, the passnager side has just been replaced with a brand new one.
Interior
The interior is in good condition. The seats are a pretty comfortable considering it's a work thing. The drivers seat has had a cover on since I've got it, so no idea what it's like under it, and the bench passanger seat is vinyl. It's fairly roomy and there is a fair amount of space to put stuff under and behind the seats.
