The level of detail and quality you have on this will make that first drive even better. Oh I know it will, thanks! It's just that this fighting to me really shows the difference between doing just a single job (or even a couple of jobs) on a completed car and really rebuilding a car from the last single nut and bolt. Especially when customising stuff in between. And to be honest, I went far beyond my own initial thoughts with customisation. I remember doing plenty of work to my Granada 10 years ago, but it was Always just a few jobs here or there and it would Always go back in without any fights or mishaps. This time I can't even count how many obstacles I've had to overcome. Sometimes it just gets to me, as it wastes so much valuable time. But I do enjoy the work and I do enjoy finding solutions and making it all work. And when I look at my car so far...externally I'm extremely happy with the look and internally well it seems to be coming together so very nicely that I have to admit to feeling quite proud. That pride also is why I sometimes have trouble with people giving negative feedback on my project. On here it doesn't happen much, the Dutch crowd are generally a lot tougher to please (which I refuse to do as I do my own thing). It's usually about really silly things as well. Like the colour not being Original. Is that important? Or is it important that it suits the vehicle? hm, best not get to deep into this. I love my car and what I made it to be. And I can't wait to be driving it at last!

The interior looks really good now! I so recognize your struggles... I have just almost, possibly, fitted a MkI Scorpio speedo to my Capri binnacle, it took a lot of modifications but now it sits there, much like yours.
Fitting the plastic hard lines to the fittings can be a pain. My best solution has been to clamp two pieces of wood together (something like 10 cm long and 4 cm wide), and drill a hole the size of the tube in the parting line. Then sand away a bit of the wood so the tube is quite firmly locked between the halfes, when clamped in a vice. Then heat the tube slightly, and tap in the barb with a small hammer. It works in about 75% of the cases with no kinks.
I wish I had the time and talent to fix another Capri to your standards (especially interior wise).

the interior looks very good eurogranada Never realised you had the speaker pods in the footwells before either, I made mine bolt to the door card over the top of the existed holes for the original speakers. Hope the rack refurb goes well and doesn't hold you up too much

I just yesterday fitted the other door card as well. I have to say it looks amazing!! This interior will make me feel right at home! I can't wait to take a picture of the front half of the interior from the back seat with seats and console fitted permanently as well. But it'll have to wait though.... Unfortunately the dash has to come apart once more as the rev counter is not working. I think the signal wire from the ecu is expecting a more modern unit. But as the BOA ecu's had a different wire for old school tacho's, maybe the BOB has one as well. Can't put the console in prior to fixing that! I've got a question for you: the Scorpio speedo has three wires or prongs, earth, one marked 31h and one marked 12 or possibly 15. Can't remember off the top of my head. Which is the signal? I thought 31h. I can't really test yet, but want to double check. Did you also change the face to match your Original design? That was quite a challenge as well... Thanks for the tip! If it comes off, I'll try it your way, lol!

Yes, I had previously made speaker pods for the footwells. They are big, but not in the way and the sound is great. Only thing is I don't like the look... :-( Unfortunately I'm no where near as useful with fibreglass or even vinyl to make something better. I'd like the speaker not to be so blunt on the panel, I'd like to have a smooth transition towards the outlines of the panel. It's one of the next things on the list: refine the shape of the new panels, and start messing with covering them differently. I may even try the firbreglass stuff. As long as I have a pantyhose from my wife to abuse it may work... I didn't know where the front speakers were originally, I just had a centre dash one I believe. But I Always read comments like, too bad they cut the doors or doorcards for speakers so I was reluctant to put them there. The footwells on a granny are ok in size and now the clutch pedal is gone as well there's even more room for my foot. Thanks for the comments, they help me get over the incredible fights the car sometimes puts up.

These Mk1 Coupe's are one of my favourite classics, can't wait to see it finished! I'm working my ass off to get it ready for end of march at the latest. And it will be a stunner, even if it is just me who thinks so lol!

On my speedo I think that it was marked on the circuit board, ISTR that the red wire is +12v, the black is earth/ground, and the yellow is the signal. I can't remember any numbering like what you have though.
Tacho could be tricky, I have never gotten the old Ford tachos to work with EDIS. Apparently the really late Capri 2.8i tachos do work though, I expect late 2.8i Granada MkII would be the same. Perhaps when the 2.8i's got the latest electronic ignition?

Agree with this! We've sweated (metaphorically) with you every inch of the way and are urging this final push to successful completion. I used to love smoking around in the old Granada Coupes and would be more than happy to do so again with this one. Just stick it in a container labelled 'Water Buffalo Spare Parts' or something and send it over here if no-one likes it. I wouldn't care!

Thanks, I have both types (with wires and with prongs) so I can deduce what I need to know.
I know for a fact that old school tacho's need a different wire on the EEC-IV ecu, but don't yet know if the BOB EEC-V ecyu still has that same arrangement. I'll look into that.

I got around this problem by fitting an Elliot tacho in the mk2 cluster. But I have a sneaky suspicion that the EEC IV output would have worked with the original mk2 v6 tacho as it was the same signal output as the 2.8 coil had. Id suck it and see, whats the worst that can happen, other than it saying its idling at 3000rpm As for the speaker pods, mine are basic and aren't pretty. but they are my first attempt at them. The base for them is just a lump of mdf, and I had some speaker plates laser cut and just hot glue gunned some bits of bent metal for the basic shape/angle I wanted. Then stretched some polishing cloth over and smothered in fibreglass resin to soak and set and cover again til it was the right thickness,, and without holes

If not I might as wel order a new odometer/speedometer and tacho... But that is an expensive option. I hope that I can get it to work. Right now on ignition on, the needle rises a few mm and stays put, engine on or off. I may have a go at fibreglassing the speaker pods. But first things first!

I had to pick up a gearbox from the barn a couple of weeks ago. I confess, I pulled back the cover and had a good look around the Granada. Stunning car there Sir, and attention to detail is just fantastic. I must pop and join for a Saturday session up there again soon. I also took a good look at Dennis' little red devil. My goodness, that guy can paint! Great place (albeit in a bloody mess at the moment). Had good times and sweary times a plenty in there... I didn't reply before now, as I has 40 pages to go through first

But you must have gotten a good impression of where it's going to end up. So thank you for your kind compliments!! I'm not at the barn every saturday, as it depends on the family agenda, but next time you're planning on going there give me a shout!

Because this sounds like a great and much more affordable plan! Basically you have the coil side of a switching relay (the side you would connect power to to switch it), connected to a small amplifying transistor, feeding your tacho... it takes the low voltage digital signal from the ecu, amplifies it, and fires it out to the tacho. You could probably get away with using a suitably sized inductor instead of a relay coil to do the same thing... If you want to try this I probably have the parts you need laying at home, can take a look for you.
