Thanks for all your honest replies, it's really appreciated!! The good as well as the bad! Thankfully the good seems to be outnumbering the bad! Even though I build the car for no one but myself, I do like it better when others like what I'm doing too!
And I have to say, every time the picture comes by, I'm more convinced that I did the right thing!

The mirrors will look fine when the car is painted. At the moment the eye is drawn to them but when painted and finished they will blend in and look great. Plus its good to improve an older car with some modern touches.

Hello Alex, Hope you don't mind but I coloured in your pic to get an idea - Works really nice I think and a worthwhile evolution from the 1970's " move it with a cable, wipe it with a rag".

Thanks spot!!
That gives a pretty good impression of what was in my minds eye!!
To me it is just a confirmation that I was right to do this even though many will or appear to see it as going out on a limb and being ugly.
I also really like the fact that in a pretty subtle way the old thing had been connected to current times...

Considering you've fitted modern style wheels and tyres, I think the colour coordinated mirrors will suit the theme just fine, and I can totally understand the convenience aspect of them. I'm (only just!) old enough to remember when you needed to wind down the windows to adjust the mirrors, which was double annoying on the passenger side especially in the rain. Mind you I can also remember when a passenger side mirror was an optional extra, and if you tell kids that nowadays the'll never believe you.
Just waiting for you to finish painting the car now....

Personally, I think they have enough mixture of hard lines and curves to suit the body. However, I would have considered making the black bits body coloured. If you don't have any other black on the car, the mirrors will look like they're detached/floating away.

Just waiting for you to finish painting the car now.... They keep telling me it will be painted in the next two weeks. But I've been hearing that for at least 6 weeks now. The car should be masked this week and I expect the painter to paint it next week. But I'll just have to wait and see. I need to sort some missing bits anyhow. So this gives me some more time to get them.

If you don't have any other black on the car, the mirrors will look like they're detached/floating away. The standard car in my case has black on it already in several places. The bumpers feature a black rubber strip, the overriders as well. The full length side trim is chrome/metal with black rubber inserts. The rear FORD plate is black. Add to that a black interior, mostly black wheels, black striping on the bonnet and possibly between the wheel wells on the lower end of the doors... They'll fit the theme nicely. Painting them will not look as great I think because of the structure in the plastic. Also ususally paint has a tendency to wear off those kind of surfaces after a while, not something I'd like to risk.

Personally I think these really do look tip-top...! I'm all for originality with old motors but these mirrors fit in with your desired theme perfectly and I think once the car is complete they will fit in just right... Keep up the good work sir, this just keeps getting better!!!

They look good to me, I think the original mirrors would have worked with your colour scheme, and these tie in the updated work you are doing on the car. Good choice I think.

I like the mirrors. Are you having any chrome trim on the car? I'd like the see a photo shop of the mirror bodies
with a chrome wrap on.

old mirrors much more harmonious, these are not for this machine . +1 I'm all for being positive, but if you're after opinions I'll add my 2¢ and say NOOO! Great standard of work overall though, don't let other people's opinions get you down mate, you are the one that matters and if we listened to everyone else we'd all have identical boring cars.

Your car - your choice. Don't let negative feedback get you down - each to their own. We are individuals with different tastes - I love Marmite!

I like the mirrors. Are you having any chrome trim on the car? I'd like the see a photo shop of the mirror bodies with a chrome wrap on. The MkI granada features plenty of chrome/stainless trim, like bumpers, window surrounds, sill trim, wheel arch trim etc. There are chrome caps readily avaialable for these mirrors, but they usually are stick ons and as the cap is a considerable surface they tend to look too dominating. I had considered going chrome though!

Thanks for the overall compliments! I know it's a mod not everyone will appreciate, and that is ok. I was just rather shocked by the rather strong negative response elswhere. Whereas over here, most seem to be at least ok, or more then ok with it. But I'm building the car for myself to my liking, that above all.

Thanks to all that have replied on the issue of these mirrors. You've added to my own belief that it does and will look good to use these mirrors. Also the responses here were much more constructive then I got elsewhere. I don't expect everyone to like what I'm doing or the colour I chose etc. but it is always nice to know that there are also those who do!
Thanks for that as well!

Oldbus - my point exactly. I'd like to see it painted white - but it's not MY car!
