Hi guys got a kp starlet thats getting a bit of a revamp, have copy and pasted this from another forum so bare with me if the formats a bit out until I bring this thread up to date.
After much dribbling and drooling at various car shows this year, me, my brother and dad decided to get ourselves something to play with. It had to be Rwd of course and had to have a retro coolness and also be relatively cheap (to start with anyway) This popped up on the bay and after some figures being thrown around we chucked in a sneaky bid in the last minute and won it.
Plan is to build this up for track days, sprints, hill climbs and drifts. All the fun stuff
It seems to have been looked after well with no terminal rust upon first inspection, both rear sills have been plated/repaired to a good standard and will simply need cleaning up and dressing.
Plans are to strip it back to bare repair anything, sort the diff out maybe escort/capri? welded/LSD , cage , respray , buckets. ford front legs or maybe have a crack at a coilover kit for the front struts.
Engine wise the origional plan was maybe an early mx5 engine and turbo it (i have an mx5 and have sourced the majority of parts needed to turbo it) but this has since been thrown out in favour of a 2 litre pinto ford setup down to ease and carbs
plenty more progress to come :smash:
1st thing I did was jump on a rear qtr for some rubbing and priming just to see how it would be
Next me and my brother decided to take the little 3k out
And began a strip down
As you can see its not in too bad condition
Worst rust being this rear valance which has been cut out
