Thanks for the kind words, appreciate it On the subject of Corvettes... well I'm not an expert (clearly haha), and those dates/numbers were off the top of my head. A trawl through Google Images seems to confirm that the powder blue one is indeed a 1962 model, and the steel blue is 1967. That would make the former a first generation (the last year) and the latter a second generation en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Corvette I know Wiki isn't the defining authority but it's the best I've got, lol Not trying to start an argument, but I think accuracy is importnant

I missed it? Gaaaah!!
L7 - do me a favour, next year divert through Gloucester to get there and slap me upside the head to remind me!!
The Davrian is a Mk7 Modsports owned by Ken Banks, and the last time I spoke to him he was running and experimental 1140 (i think) Imp lump from Ian Carter.

Cheers again! mdh... it's a tiny bit out of the way, Worthing to Brighton via Gloucester, but I'll see what I can do. Feed me up on soss and hegg McMuffins and most things can be bought ;D @hotwire... never thought I'd get caught posting pics of a Beemer lol, but thanks for quoting that one cos it made me realise I inadvertantly got a picture of the Gay Jogger statue in the background there! Such an appropriate pose for Brighton seafront, of all places. as for the Corvette debate, well I dunno! As I said, it'd hardly be the first time Wikipedia was well outside the mark. I have to say, my understanding of Corvette "generations" pretty much fit in with it, but that's not to say it's right lol. I need to go and ask my local American car obsessive for a definite answer. We'll call it an amicable "maybe" for now, shall we?

Brilliant write up. I've only been the once a few years ago and it was a scorcher then. That Allard has been one of the quickest cars there for years now ;D

I was there too and it didn't disappoint. I'm relieved that I didn't bother taking any pictures myself, your thread is brilliant. I think this a great example of how a forum or blog post can cover an event far better than a magazine. Thanks for putting in so much effort The D Type and Maserati were brilliant and beautiful, the F40 somewhat underwhelming on the strip, the Dodge jaw droppingly perfect, but for me the Renault Alpine was the nicest surprise. Compact and brutally quick, it showed that it's not all about the number of cc's you have. P.S. Hate to mention it, but the Lancia Fulvia is an Alfa...

The Corvette generations have always been a bit confusing. I think the first generation tag covers the original straight six engined cars and the twin headlamp V8 ones up to 62 like the one pictured. It's probably generation 1.5 or some such curse word.
Brilliant pictures and a brilliant write-up.

At least I've got an excuse for not nipping to see this ;D Seriously though, this type of motoring event is around the only thing I miss about the UK and this report, the pictures and words made it like I was there and for that, I thank you! Have a virtual pint of ice cold Tiger on me. After the shift, of course.

Cheers again! mdh... it's a tiny bit out of the way, Worthing to Brighton via Gloucester, but I'll see what I can do. Feed me up on soss and hegg McMuffins and most things can be bought How about a big plate of bacon sarnies and a pint of good strong tea. Ample reward for the seven hour, 400 mile detour! In all the years I lived on the south coast I only made the speed trials once, and that was by accident. TBH I used to avoid Brighton like the plague! All my storage is still down there, so if you wanna photo some more Davrians, yell!

Went there myself, with my Dad, meeting up with my mate. A great day out, despite the horrific end.
On a side note, the Fastback Mustang belongs to a friend of a guy I know from work. He's got another Mustang of similar vintage as well as apparently 2 mk1 Escorts.

P.S. Hate to mention it, but the Lancia Fulvia is an Alfa... Yep, hands up to that one I even gave it a long hard look as I was thinking "Hmmm, they've debumpered that"... staring right at the Alfa badge and distinctive heart-shape grille! What a halfwit hahaha ;D

Beautiful imagery! You have managed to capture the atmosphere and essence of the Speed Trials perfectly.
Did you get 121 or 119? (vested interest ;-) )

Having just seen your thread from Windsor/Chelsea/Goodwood, Mr Bizzle I might have suspected you of being ironiiic there ;D But thanks for coming down to my level Beautiful imagery! You have managed to capture the atmosphere and essence of the Speed Trials perfectly. Did you get 121 or 119? (vested interest ;-) ) Errr, nope, sorry. I think I got a corner of one in the background, but it hardly bears repeating Assuming the prgramme's correct in those being Globals, yeah?

Hahaha... but they're good images, that's the thing. I always think everyone elses' pics look better than mine Maybe that's a good thing, I guess it motivates us to keep trying to get better at stuff. It's like; I can see the picture I want in my head and I think I've taken it and when I get home and look at it on the 'puter it's like... oh . Still, that's the beauty of digital picktchers, innit. I can flail away helplessly and take 1000 pics in a day and the ten that come out well make me look amazing ;D Anway, I suspect I'm wittering, so thanks for the compliment and I've shut up now
