I know of a couple of these in Ayrshire in a similar condition. Both F plates, one white and one red. Well past their best. I'll take a few photos and stick them on the abandoned ones thread.

That is very sad to see but I'm not surprised! My first MR2 was beaten by rust.
Additionally, the wheels on that black one are lovely!!

It is sad to see them like that but i think most cars go this stage in their lives when they are getting on a bit the unloved one are sacrificed to keep the rest running.

Love the mk1's.... Although the mk2 isnt bad either.
I spent a good week welding up the front end and sills of one once.. Bloody weld one bit and another bit pops up.. That said when it was all done and i drove it back to the guy... I can understand why he wanted it done.
They do go well for such a small car.. Lovely to drive.

I love mine. Had loads before it too. Problem is they are childsplay to break, and many breakers MASSIVELY overinflate the price of components of them, forgetting that for the moment they are still fairly commonplace and cheap to buy as a full breaker for yourself. Rust is your enemy on them though, that white one above is not a surprising sight for me...
To demonstrate, a breaker quoted me the same for a pair of front calipers as it cost me to buy a full car....

That looks like Paul Sims' horde. He does a lot of business on the mk1 club site and is reasonable and good service too. I've had a few bits off him and all's been well except the time when I ordered a rear sway bar and he mistakenly sent me two full rear wings (from tail to B post!). G/f couldn't get em through the door ;D Seriously, if there is a better pound for pound fun motor to be had than a good mk1, I dunno what it is. Just sold mine because of growing family and I ain't got a clue what4 seated thing I can replace it with.

Yes this is my MR2 collection, currently at 25 cars. Wherever possible i try to get them back on the road, and i have sold quite a few complete. I keep my cars with the parts on as i then know exactly where a part is if someone needs it, and i know if i have not got it. I hate to see them going to scrap with useable parts on, so that is why i keep them all until there is nothing salvageable on them. I have to say that i am not more expensive than Paul Sims, if you compare our prices on ebay, 90% of my stuff is cheaper than his! And i will always match anyone elses price for the same parts in the same conditon. I am not trying to monoplise the market, Paul Sims has already done that, so to be honest, i can only ask the same price or less than him. It is all about supply and demand. I only put up prices when i have very little of that part left eg 'C' pillar trims with are very rare in good condition these days, and perfect radio surrounds are also very rare. Thanks for letting me reply. If you want to see my website, where you can see more about what i do...... mk1mr2.webs.com or email........mk1mr2@live.co.uk Thanks, Neil
