So here it is, my 1967 Volvo Amazon.
A few years ago I had to make the gut wrenching choice to sell up everything (including my Amazon estate project at the time). A few years later after selling everything I owned (including my house) I am now almost back on my feet.
So there I was looking on the internet dreaming and came across Loon’s old saloon for sale… My girlfriend’s birthday was only a week away and I really should be looking for pressies for her (shouldn’t I?).
Any way with the car being over 180 miles away from me and me being crazy busy that week I took a complete flyer on it. I bought it without even viewing it and had it collected and dragged back to work the day before her birthday.
I have a fair history of hot rods, retro and classic cars (this is my 4th Amazon) and it is so nice to finally be back in one.
I have a few bits and pieces to see to over the coming months.
The overdrive is shot. Was slipping like hell so I dropped the oil out, cleaned the filter and made sure it was all adjusted as it should be… However it is still the same so I am guessing the cone clutch is shot. So have a replacement to fit.
The body work on the whole is solid but there are a few areas that need seeing to. The roof is a different story. It appears that the previous owner had tried to help the “patina” on the roof. I like the patina look but I'm concerned about the rust coming though so need to jump on this quickly.
The wheels did not stay yellow for long. Thanks to my girlfriend I had some nice new spider caps for my birthday.
Check out that Snake skin dash… Mmmmmmm!
Unfortunately I can’t take credit for a lot of the work already done. However I have plans for it, Not big plans but plans to make it my own!
Well here are the pictures. I will keep you updated!
As it was when I bought it.
Now...
Cheers
