I voted 309 cos I've driven a few when I had a 205 and they handled just as well as long as they weren't poverty spec cars
Like the Activa conversion idea too!!! ;D
As for Fords are fine if you can weld - in that case buy a Monza and get lots of practice ;D

Its going to be my 2nd car, a weekend toy. Which means? Does it need 4 seats? What type of money are you prepared to spend now and what do you expect to add within the next year? Is it likely to see a 1/4 mile or the ring or country lanes? Will you be driving any distance in it (cross continents)? Are you more interested in how it goes or how it shows?

More go less show, not 1/4 miles as they bore me, b road blasting and trackdays. Around £2000 total budget after engine change & brake upgrades but it will be longish project. I'll be saving for another everyday car too. Seats however many it comes with.

I'd say Polo purely because you'll be able to find one that isn't broken. A MKIII Escort will need a ton of work before it's even solid unless you pay a fortune. Hmmmm, no sweeping generalisations here then. ;D If anyone wants a rock solid mk3 Escort, I know of three for around the £300 - £400 mark. No BS - these are solid motors with good arches / sills / battery trays etc etc. All MOT'd, one's taxed. Two of 'em are three-doors, too.

Reckon you could do a "309 Activa" complete for well under £2k ;D Brakes are Awesome on them as standard, something like 4000psi line pressure ;D ;D In a Smaller lighter shell the thing would be amazing and you could properly embarrass porsches and the like on Trackdays ;D

Not sure, I'll have a word and see if I can get some pics this evening. They look nice though - one's metallic blue, one's a bronzey-orangey colour, both 1.6GLs.
