Okay we've got a choice at the moment with the Retro Rides 07 show, due to some shifting around of calendars the current weekend sheduled for the show will co-incide with a VSCC race meeting on the Sunday, if we move to the weekend before we will have the race meeting that was originally scheduled for that weekend, however we will clash with Ford Fair ... So..... personally I love VSCC and I know a few other people do, but I'd like to get some of the wider communities views on this. Some Info VSCC www.vscc.co.uk/vsccweb/Not afraid of using their machines : BRSCC www.brscc.co.uk/default.asp?page=championshipsincluded on the day is the Alfa championship

VSCC would be quite cool.
But BRSCC is much closer to the 'Retro' ethic.
Will a clash with 'ford fair' be mega-disaterous?

Ooo, tough choice. I'd be happy with either personally. Where is the Ford fair? Would it really be a problem? Might mean a few less Mk1 and 2 Escorts but we all know what they look like ;D edit: Thought about it a liitle more. VSCC for me.

I think a clash with ford fair would be a loss to the Retro-Rides Show TBH
For starters you would miss out on a lot of very trick Escorts modified in the way we like ;D
Ford Fair is THE big one as far as the Ford lot are concerned and a lot treat it the same way we treated RCS - a chance to catch up with old freinds/social etc
VSCC is very cool, far better racing wise IMHO than BRSCC and something a bit different ;D

Surely it would be a good thing to piggyback onto another (presumably) established show catering for stuff similar to us, with racing more akin to what we cover here? More likelihood of people crossing over and finding things of interest.
I’m sure the VSCC thing would be very good too, but I see more synergy (terrible word, urgghhh!) with Ford Fair and BRSCC. Only downside is if Ford Fair is too massive would we feel a bit swamped and might it put off some of the other clubs etc who you’d want to come along?
Tough call, and I haven’t voted because of that. I’m leaving aside the selfish fact that moving RR07 to another date suits my calendar……..
Edit: Got confused there. I read that to mean that FF was held at same venue, but you’re saying it’s elsewhere aren’t you? Ought to try and concentrate on one thing at a time……
Summer’s busy, whatever date you choose will always clash with something of interest to us here. Are there really that many of us here who’d be at Ford Fair?

Sunday seems to be the day that people prefer to visit show, a clash with Ford fair could see off a bunch of retro fords and general Fordies which is a fair proportion of the retro community, I have not personally been for a few years mind.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

VSCC for me, don't wanna clash with ford fair, i wanna see as many cool cars as possible and if its on the same day as a massive ford show then we could miss out.

I'm gonna take up the role of class thicko here...
Is the BRSCC meet at the RR07 show venue, and is this on the same date as the Ford Fair?
If so, I think we should avoid clashing with the Ford Fair at all costs. It's massive and we really don't want to lose a lot of the Blue Oval boys.

ok, to clear up any confusion, or for anyone who hasnt seen the thread about the show ....
The Retro Rides Show is pencilled in for the 10/11/12 Aug. We are building a race meeting into our show - on the sunday. We were due to have a BRSCC event, but not that has moved a week forward and the VSCC meet is now on 'our' weekend.
We can a) move the show forward a week and still have the BRSCC meet as part of the show but clash with the ford fair or b) leave the show where it is, have the VSCC meet built into the show and clash with no-one

Eeesh that is tough. The BRSCC racing would be more in-keeping with our show, but I think clashing with Ford Fair would be a really bad thing. VSCC racing would be great to watch I reckon. I'm gonna hold off the voting button for now but I'm erring towards VSCC, personally...

id rather hit the RR show over FF. but theres a lot that wont, wasnt the turbosport lot thinking about having a stand at the RR show? and I'm sure they will pick ford fair over this

Got to admit I would prefer the BRSCC race meet but I think it would really hinder the shows chances of success if it was on the same weekend as Ford Fair. I am sure most non-ford fans wont mind which weekend its on but I am sure it will make a massive difference to the RR show overall if it was to clash

Yeah. I took the plunge and voted VSCC. I think seeing as it's the first Retro Rides show, we need the Ford lot in attendance (and I really like to see Fords! )

I like to see Fords......and I think that having the VSCC boys along will open the Retro philosophy to a whole new old generation! Plus I've been to a VSCC race meeting before, those guys do not hold back on the loud pedal!!!
VSCC for me, then..

VSCC, because it's not the obvious choice. However when you've seen them race it's fantastic spectacle and would be in keeping the show ethos I'm sure.
Plus you kind of need the Ford guys, they've got some gorgeous cars that are right up the retro alley... ;D
