I don't post on here a whole lot, but recently ticked 2 to dos of my bucket list. Typically they're 8 weeks and 600 miles apart, the latter is pretty unlikely to change going to change but the after some nasty forest fires the 90th edition of the Pikes Peak was moved to the weekend before speed week. Flights booked, Mustang hired and credit card maxed and here are my pics Also, there were two big crashes on race day (many many other smaller ones) - the first I didn't see but this guy having decided 800hp wasn't enough added a couple of turbos for 1300bhp through the rear wheels - not sure what happened but here are the clips of the crash, he made it well over 100ft through the forest - left with just a broken hand The second I watched with my stomach in my mouth as honestly we all feared the worst. Both were fine and on Piers Morgan the following week. The guys who were stood on that very corner al morning must be counting their blessings. Everyone was super friendly, lots of grass roots guys (the NSX guy was on his own with the wife and the dog, the Corolla guy drove from Utah as the trailer broke on route) as well as the corporate stuff. Did the loss of gravel on the last 3rd make a difference? Nope, because snow has as much grip as gravel and thats what we got on race day along with rain, hail and 30 C sunshine. Better still when it was quiet, you had 6000ft of mountain to look down on and the continental divide in distance - good times.

EPIC EPIC thread, I saw the title and though it was more regurgitated internet pictures, how wrong I was! You are not luck, men make their own luck, I am however very jelous I will be coming back to this thread to look again, there is too much to take in the detail on just one browse Oh, and thank you, this thread has made my day!

That is the trip of a lifetime for sure! The photos are amazing. Such a huge variety of cars competing. It's impressive to see a Monaro flying the flag for Australia. I believe that one's called 'Marilyn' by the owner. Also, you've got to love that orange/silver thing which I believe is supposed to be a super-stretched and mid-engined Model T roadster! You've got to love it purely through the level of rearranging they've done to the body. The nose is stretched by about 2 metres, driver sits in front of the cowl and the engine is inside the cabin!

You know, I couldn't work out what that was meant to be at all, but now I can see the curve of the rear deck beneath the two boxes containing the parachutes. Madness.
AWESOME thread. Both of these things are on my list too, I would absolutely love it. Many thanks for sharing.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
