Plugs should be darkish grey, that means it's slightly rich and is safe for now. There are probably 2 set screws on each carb, 1 is for idle, this simply opens up the throttle a bit. The other is for mixture at idle, this can very well be this D shape key. Post a picture of the carbs you are using and I can be more helpfull. For now; if the screw is at the outlet of the carb it's a mixture screw, meaning turning out enriches the mixture. If it's at the airbox side it's an air screw meaning turning out leans the mixture (!). You will probably need to increase the main jet size as well as the idle jet. Sometimes you can increase fuel level in the carb bowls, this will effectively enrichen the mixture over the entire range, which is what you'll probably need. See if you can bend the small tab on the float that pushes the float needle into the housing. If this all sounds too daunting, you should start reading about motorbike carbs

Thanks, il give that a go, along with increasing the fuel pressure.
Beings as the first set of carb kept on flooding, I dropped the pressure low down, so far as to now it doesn't even register on the fuel pressure gauge, but even then, that set of carbs still flooded.
So now I've replaced them with new set, but haven't raised pressure back up (so worth a go)
Referring to the fuel mixture d-shape key, which way do I turn to make it richer?
Thanks

There you go; airbox side>in=richer, cilinder side>in=leaner Instead of cilinder or airbox side, you can also say in front of or behind the throttle plate.

Haha, thanks. This is the way I like to learn things, just throw myself at stuff and figure it out. Never used a welder before this build or worked on an engine. It's places like this that help loads though, so I'm very great full

Was just thinking, would I need some sort of breather on it? You might need one just on the oil reservoir because of the oil temp. changes...
