I will defiantly have to go take a look. The site is only about 10min away from where i am living atm.
yeah thats right, i never twigged until i saw the plaque in side the main reception. Also Priory Hall were built on the site of the original prewar triumph factory.

A mate of mine works for Toyota at Burnaston. I wouldn't say he is proud to work for them. I'd go so far as to say he hates them. He used to complain when we brought our Toymota round his house. He's getting some skin disorder due to radiation on the production line. Compulsory overtime at an hours notice... Some guy lost a finger in a spot welder and they wouldn't shut down the line. The other guys on his station just had to cover him while he was dragged off to sick bay. I'm sure their policy on breaks is also in breach of EU working time directive... He calls it "building the bridge over the river kwai", the slave labour camp, and a bunch of other equally charming things. Most people on the heavy lines only last 6 months at it before they quit. Up to 14 hours a day, 6 days in week one on days, 5 days on week two on nights. He looks ill. This is why Toyota productivity is 3 times better than the industry average. this sounds awfully familiar to nissans way of working, coupled with the marks brothers running the show from the office, not really good. i don't work for nissan, i work for calsonic, and we work in exactly the same way.and our office staff are worse.they make burt and ernie look like stephen hawking. it stinks, and goes against most human rights laws, I'm sure. I'm looking to get out. i applied for a new job, been for some tests and passed, had an interview and did well enough to be asked back for a medical, which is tomorrow (or today depends when youre reading this). fingers crossed il be out soon.

Very sad news. Car plants should be kept going, even if it is not economical to do so. Once they're gone, they're gone forever. When it is economical to build cars again in this country (i.e when blairs grown some balls)there wont be any factories left to do so as they will all be retail parks. I read once that this country used to a great car builder.... not now.

Soon there will nothing left apart from retail parks and housing estates. Apparrently all people need is a house and somewhere to buy rubbish from.
