Difficult to write this, but please read on.
My girlfiend is a manager of a charity shop in one of the larger retirement villages on the North Kent coast.
One of her customers (known as Mr. Ferrari), noticed that she drove a Austin Healey Sprite to work most days, he being a retired gentleman who owned a Ferrari.
He was often seen driving through the village in it and it was obviously a car he took great pride in owning, although he never went on the kind of road trips a Ferrari deserves, you just knew that he took great pleasure in owning and driving it.
Knowing my girlfiend owned and drove a Sprite, he offered her a drive of his Ferrari, saying “if you can drive that Sprite, you can drive a Ferrari”
He died a few weeks ago and I just want to say goodbye to him, I'm using this forum to do this, because I feel sure that everyone on here will understand what a great person he was.
So, good bye Mr. Ferrari and thank you.

A sad loss - the world of car lovers has some truly marvellous people in it. How else would I have ridden in a Cobra replica - with an offer to drive it only turned down because of insurance - or sat in an F40?

RIP Ferrari man. Always remember taking a neighbours 12 year old son out in my 328GTS, the look on his face after a 15 minute drive was priceless. Half the fun of having nice cars is sharing them with others.

Bon Voyage Mr Ferrari, people like you are why the world is such a superb place to be. Sure we all complain and have curse word days from time to time but its amazing how a single act of kindness or just sharing one's own passion can make such a difference to another person's day. Ive just spent two days respraying my Beetle with an 8 year old and 11year old over the road- i even let them put a Union Jack on the roof- apparently they were so excited they could not sleep! Nothing like making other people smile- see you at RRG12 & Rip Mr F.

Thanks for the comments, I just thought it'd be nice to leave a small memorial to this enthusiast, amongst his fellow enthusiasts.
And sorry, don't know for sure which Ferrari he drove, I think, from the girlfiends description, it was most likely a 308/328. He used to pop into her charity shop and buy books, (which were always re-donated a few weeks later), parking the Ferrari outside.

Thats the type of person that gets the younger generation hooked on cars, i bet everyone has a story of a person with a drive full of old cars or car they always used to see driving through the estate as a kid.
Enjoy it up there, and i hope his car is passed on and used it the way he used it, to inspire and bring smiles to faces.
