Having rescently upgraded the filter on my 2cv's induction system I was looking around for other daft things I could throw into my engine bay, came across these: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150067681234Anyone have any experience with these cheap superchargers? and are they worth the money? The induction system on my 2cv consistes of a pipe from the front fan cowling to the filter so the air is already being rammed so to speak by the stock fan (this was standard fitment on the Dyane), so not sure how much difference something like that would make?? Obviously carb adjustment and possibly new jets would be required, have an air/fuel mixture gauge laying around somewhere... Bare in mind even 1bhp more is quite a bit on a 2cv Thanks in advance, Mick.

;D Just the latest take on the 'power resistor of justice' product. Don't even go there.

That seems to be covering pretty large engines though, I'm playing with a 602cc flat twin here

Honestly, its not a good idea, a PC fan cannot supply enough air to your engine, let alone crate any form of boost.
Listen to the OWL OF JUSTICE, he knows his beans.

Have you considered sticking a small 99p sticker on the bootlid that says 'turbo'? That would be just as effective. Or maybe laying your rear seats flat, thus lowering the centre of gravity and allowing you faster acceleration??? ( )

Electric superchargers or turbo work wonders. Fit one to a Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 12v they can increase power by a 1000 bhp! Cant understand why more people don't fit them, my mate dave told me. And there I was thinking it was just a £2.00 computer cooling fan in a bit of plastic pipe silly me Failing that LED washer jets, stickers that say "drift" or a Banana work just as well (see below pic of a 10000000 bhp evo).......

Has anyone ever stood behind a car on a rolling road if so you'll know the the engine shifts a lot of air
For an 2.0L assuming no losses (and obviously there are restrictions in the induction that reduce it's ability to suck in air)
Engine capacity 2.00 Litres Four stroke cycle so one "bang" form each cyl every two turns of the crank
Air useage Per Rev 1.00 Litres
Air usage at tickover 600 L per min Air usage at tickover 10 L per sec
Half Revs 4000 L per min Half Revs 67 L per sec
Full revs 6000 L per min Full revs 100 L per sec
Yep any of these so called electric superchargers are gonna do one thing for sure
- form a restriction to air flow in the induction tract robbing you of power
The other thing they are likely to do is have a bearing failure and as a result stuff shards of plastic thro your engine when it happens

You will all have to excuse my ignorance, havng only ever owned and driven 2cvs you can imagine that my knowledge of such things ranges from little to non existant, but thanks for clarifying for me, I shall stick with the stock Citroen Dyane system and green filter for the time being.
Cheers, Mick.

no no no, get a turbocharger and pop it on! 2CV's do have a pressure oiling system don't they? My knowledge of 2CV's is slim to non existant That would be very cool, turbo 2cv! J

fit 50bhp NOS, can be done for under £500 if your carefull and used properly wont kill the car.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I am reliably informed by some of the 2cv racing guys that NOS on a 2cv is a very very bad idea.

buy a leaf blower and create an elaborate induction system to the carb ;D

I have seen one electric supercharger that actually looks like it could work. It costs over a grand and is basically a conventional suspercharger driven by a very clever electric motor. It draws 200 amps. A two wire hookup fan will not get enough electric power to work.
Anything based on a fan will not work.
A fan can move air but it cannot create pressure... Pressue is how forced induction works.
