I have a 1986 Mercedes SEC500 Called Bertha I've only owned her for 4 weeks & am in the process of collecting parts for a restification project. Here she is And here are the bad bits Will probably be asking lots of daft question in the near future ;D Cheers Jamie

Thanks for the welcome guys. There wont be too much progress before the winter as I'm hoping to find a unit/warehouse share around here so I can take her off the road in December & strip her down..... It'll be a fairly long project as I'm still unsure which direction to go.

They look great. Hope there are no speed bumps in sunny Bradford.

Thanks guys. I already have hundreds of pictures for inspiration and the speed bumps in Bradford are HUGE! Not to mention my drive is at at 35degree angle..... Air Ride will be my only solution to going low. Due to the seperate spring & damper seats on the suspension I think I'll be able to do that without breaking the bank.

Beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
Don't be afraid to go chasing genuine Mercedes parts for rubbers, hoses etc. - most stuff is available and that's a proper classic car, modified or not! Love SECs, CEs and the like...

Cheers fella's Mercedes will be my 1st port of call for all the rubbers & seals as I want the car doing properley. The hardest part is going to be finding somewhere to work on it when the winter comes as I don't fancy stripping it outside....

Merc are indeed good for parts, but find the part number, and Ebay/Google usually finds something. Are both your front chrome corners ok? If not I have a pair (as mine is an SE and it won't fit)

I've got a drivers side rear boot/wheel well repair panel for sale if you're interested?

The front bumper is all good & it was only the rear passenger side chrome that was rusted through. Got a complete rear bumper chrome yesterday so that's sorted now. I don't think I need the boot repair panel but if you can pm how much you want for it anyway. The parts I need are: 2 Front Wings Rear deck repair panel (Expensive repair) As far as I can see everything else is ok but wont really know till I start stripping her, as she's running fine at the moment I'm going to cruise around for the summer then take her off the road this winter.... If anyone knows a good welder/body man in West Yorkshire I'd be glad for the heads up. That Dakar 560 looks mental..... I'm still having naughty thoughts about putting an E55 engine & box in her... :-)

Check Ebay for wings, got mine for about £65 a piece. Pattern parts though, and haven't fitted them yet, so can't tell what quality fit they are.

Yeah, I've seen the pattern ones for sale but have been put off by the horror tales of poor fit & thin panels. There was a brand new genuine pair on ebay last week for £375 but I didn't have the cash..... I'm going to keep an eye out for a good used pair.

love ur benz good luck with the hunt for parts ur wings don't look that bad u might be able to get them repaired cheaper than new ones Both of them under the indicators are rusted completely through so both need replacing. Wings come up on ebay & ebay.de fairly often so it's just a matter of time.

Nice car! Heading your way in a couple of weeks to get mine painted at the old mill on Halifax road! Think one of my mates has a lot of what you need including good condition wings but they are on a saloon but I think there the same as yours. He's got a selection of chrome bumpers aswell.
