Wow, I'm a fountain of Mopar knowledge but I'd never even heard of these. You can really see the Airflow influence in these. Have another interesting Mopar powerplant, the A57 multibank engine used in many Sherman Tanks. It's five self-contained Chrysler flathead sixes assembled around a common crankshaft. Allegedly it could still propel the tank even if two cylinder banks were put out of action.

Great stuff, I'm really enjoying diving into this thread as it develops. I'm certainly enjoying it more that these guys are enjoying being at the cutting edge of 1930's automotive technology.

Didn't know that Only knew about the Continental R975 radial they put in there, with a huge cooling fan:

The Chrysler 30 cylinder was used mostly in Shermans exported under lendlease. Apparently most US Shermans used the Ford GAA - an all aluminum V8 cut down from a V12 that Ford had developed for aircraft use. The radial engined versions were used by both the US and allied countries. There were also diesel engined versions as well. Ford GAA
