As it turns out, this might not fit in the workshop we're using for the swap. When I say "might" and "fit in" I mean probably won't come back out due to the height and the size of the door.... Sent from too late to back out now using proboards What about swopping wheels for just old rims without tyres - would it then clear door ?

Yes we might have to fit something little, but where's the fun in that!
Sorry about the rear quarter panels, we were going to remove them, but since we haven't been asked for any in 8 years thought we wouldn't bother!
Ah well. Next time I get a 3 door I'll make sure to keep them.
Today is a brake pipey kind of day.

Just cut a big enough hole in the side of the warehouse, drive disco out, cover hole with wood or if your feeling energetic get the magic sparky stick out and weld the metal back in place

Good plan, or perhaps just go for it and have an impromptu roof chop to amuse the RR collective.

Nothing dramatic today, I was pushed for time. Brake hose replaced (had to cut through old one). Now plumbed front to rear. The engine bay pipe system will just drop right in with its valve and stuff. Removed the last two redundant brackets too. Tow gear arrived in anticipation. I think Saturday is swap day. Measured workshop door height and we should be ok. Might have to let tyres down but we'll see. Fingers and toes crossed.

You could also removed springs and replace with blocks of wood etc to reduce height further if necessary.

Right.
Why do I never make plans:
#1.. plans suck #2.. plans take up valuable doing time #3.. Some curse word always comes along and cocks it all up.
Etc. etc.
Today was simply a case of pushing the TD5 complete around to a neighbouring workshop, pop body off using his 2 post lift then swap chassis and lower body. What could go wrong?
Well, yesterday, aforementioned neighbour buggered off without remembering to give me his keys. No keys, no workshop, no workshop no 2 post lift.
I will not be defeated.

Anyway, work ceased officially at 12:30 and Matt With The Sport Range Rover had finished messing about with that (pics later) so our 4 post was empty.
(We had an aborted attempt to lift it using a digger and some string..... )
Turns out, no matter how shonky the method, there is NO way to carry out this operation in our workshop.
We do, however, have an outdoors, some barrels, some pallets, some offcuts of skirting board, a selection of wheels and the largest trolley jack I've seen.
I also had 3 volunteers expecting a 30 minute body swap or the postponement thereof.
I think you can see where this is going....

Surely a sufficiency of helium balloons would've seen it sorted in pas du temps?

Just for you guys who have requested it, and as an aside from what I was actually going to post.... How I anticipated the body removal..... Yes, a flock of Disney bluebirds (or ducks according to the picture) gently seperating the body from the chassis with a cascade of glitter and dust (mostly rust) floating to the ground in celebration. Then when fitting the replacement body..... Chuck Norris bird angels suspending the TD5 shell with beams of pure light and Norris energy before guiding the body mounts in to a fanfare played by an orchestra of woodland animals (not illustrated). I suppose you will want to know what actually happened.......
