This..... I guess understated coolness is what I am thinking of, something that says "i am cool without shouting about it", ....and this: Leads me to believe that you're not quite in tune with your own thought processes?

The Mercedes Pagoda is a beautiful car, failing that a R107 or R129 (currently lusting after a SL500 R129)

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

I quite agree on having a kind-of-obscure car in order to be discreet. An Alvis would be perfect! Panhards are quite cheap in France if you can be bothered to travel, but the best would be the Fulvia coupé. It's just way too beautiful and graceful, but still very classy!

Me and my Dad were recently having this conversation while wandering around some of the streets in Hampstead, as you probably know Hampstead is an affluent area and the value of the cars tends to in keeping with the value of the properties. However, we stumbled upon a common theme, down some streets it was getting to the stage where without exaggeration the majority of the cars either parked up or driving past were modern Porsche 911's. Now, there's no reason why the 911 isn't a great choice, great pedigree, fast, stylish and practical, but when you park up outside your house and you see another ten of them in your street they do lose some of their exclusiveness. Which is why certain cars that morning stood out to us more, for instance, there was one or two British Sports Cars, a number of high end eighties Mercedes and a couple of Alfa Romeo Spiders, all worth far less than the 911's but in a sea of them they stood out as beacons of class and originality. However, the one car that stood out the most, wasn't a little drop top, or a big stylish coupe, it was a five door hatchback, but not your average hatchback, in gleaming red it's flared arches and bonnet vents stood out from miles away, proudly showing that it's owner had the money to keep up with the Jones' but also was his own man and knew an iconic car when he saw one, you see the car in question was a Lancia Delta Integrale. Now while some of you might scoff at that it's not as outrageous as you might think, appearance-wise it could be accused of being a bit loud and a bit vulgar, which might be a fair point, but ever bulge and vent is there for a reason and it's Rally pedigree backs that up. The Lancia badge alone is enough to show that you're something of a connoisseur when it comes to your car as it represents a manufacturer that has based it's whole history on elegance and performance and if there's ever been a nation that knows how to make a cool car, it's the Italians.
