Bloody hell. I can't condone the wearing of 'comic' helmets like that. Keep 'em plain and simple, otherwise you look like a gosh darn dash. its at this point id like to point out that i drive a BEACH buggy in the midlands. i look like a "gosh darn dash" anyway ;D

macky in da house: anyone got a custom helmet or an old skool helmet
Don't get me started on this, I'm a serious helmet fetishist and have some 35 different ones to chose from, some previously owned by "semi-celebs" like Nigel Mansell, Jean Alessi, Stefan "Lill Lövis" Johansson, legedary Ferrai test driver Sergio Montanari and then some just owend by myself, and YES I also have exactly that KBC helmet and even the one with the same paint in grey. We sell quite lagre quantities of KBC helmets and the Swedish importer usually enlarges my collection with 1-2 helmets every year (bribes!?!?!?!).....
johnny69 in da house: Quick question regarding painting helmets: does it weaken the helmet at all?
Both YES & NO, if a helmet is made out of carbon/kevlar or fiberglass it's no problem painting and putting stickers on it, a paint on a "fiber" helmet can even make it stronger. Other helmets made out of some sort of plastic should NOT have stickers put on (unless they are special made for helmets and have special adheisives) and they shoud NOT be painted with other than water based paints, all other types of paints will soften the plastic and make them unsafe. I use a guy who paints face masks for most NHL hockey goalies since he's used to working with this type of paint....
A bit more helmet safety, A helmet shoud not be used more than 4-5 years, a plastic helmet shell will be made brittle by the wind, sun and exposure but what takes the biggest damage is the frigolit (can't find the English word for the white semi-hard stuff inside of the helmet between the shell & liner) that looses it's crash protection by becoming moist (from sweat & water) and drying over & over again, so old helmets should be put away and not used. Me beeing somewhat of a helmet collector I have helmets that I never use just because they protect as much or little as no helmet, sadly.....
DP says: I'll go home tonite and snap some pix of the most recent lids.....
