My mums Panda was aquired mainly for winter duty. She looks after horses on a farm which is only accesible via a very steep and somehwhat rocky track which in the winter becomes extremely slippy because of the ice and snow. Apparently the Panda takes it in it's stride whereas her old Escort couldn't even go there.
I'd wager the Lada would be just as good. I Used to have use of a Suzuki SJ410 a few years ago for a while. It's offoad abilities were excellent until you got onto slippy mud...then it would often get stuck, even if it wasn't deep. I don't think the rear diff is an LSD which didn't help.
What about a Justy...anyone ever had one of those? Always wondered if they were any good offroad.
