I'll be re-spraying my Superminx soon (Gloss black where it's currently satin). but am in two minds as to what to do with the mirrors. I'll be debadging it , but will probably renew the side trim (not sure yet. The way I see it I would either like bullet mirrors on the wings , or delete the wing mirror holes and have peep mirros clamped onto the quaterlight. Maybe even just some cooler looking wing mirrors. I dunno any opinions or maybe even a photoshop would be greatly appreciated. oh and the ride height fail at the front will be rectified soon. The car in question cheers

Mirrors clamped to the quarterlights - keep the lines clean. Functional but very subtle.

alolympic , I think thats probably the way i'm swinging at the moment. Will trawl ebay to see how much I can get a pair for. Like you say I think clean lines will work well.

I couldn't decide with mine either, so I just didn't bother fitting any!
Not the most practicle idea though tbh, cos I have 'cricked' my neck a few times checking traffic

I quite like the mirrors you currently have on there, but of the choices offered a gutter/quarterlight mounted peep is probably going to work best.

We've got a pair of Series 3 Sunbeam Alpines, one with mirrors like you Superminx, and one with bullet mirrors.
For actually being able to see anything the bullet mirrors are rubbish - I agree the bullets probably look better but if you have to have the hood up on the alpine the other mirros are far better at dealing with the massive blind spot!

Not the most practicle idea though tbh, cos I have 'cricked' my neck a few times checking traffic how does that cope from a legal standpoint? I thought yo uat least had to have one overtaking mirror? I think I probably will go for clamp on style , next dilemma is whether to go high level on arms or down low like most standard mirror stetups. the current fitted mirrors are getting a bit cloudy, so at the very least if I kept them I'd have to fit new mirror glass. such a simple thing mirrors ,but I think it could make a nice difference

It's all about not being able to see anything at all. Some of those mirror visors should do the trick... In all seriousness, I'm with aolympic.

how does that cope from a legal standpoint? I thought yo uat least had to have one overtaking mirror? ^Depends on the age of the car. Cars first used before 1st Aug 1978 only need one mirror (can be interior, or exterior on either LH or RH). Vans, cars first used after 1978, and passenger vehicles with 8 or more seats need a RH exterior mirror and one other (either interiror or LH exterior).

you should have said, the victors got clamp-on peeps on the 1/4 lights on it you could have tried for size. id vote for them on it, clamped to the top corner. they're the least obtrusive, look very 'custom', and actually work unlike most of the others.
oh, and legally, you only need your interior mirror on something this old.

Thanks jrevillug . That might make life a little simpler, £24 for one clamp on should sort me out. That way it's not too much of a loss if I decide to refit a standard looking setup. I think the decision has been made.

One of my biggest bugbears in the automotive world is the inistence on MOST aftermarket mirrors to be made with flat glass. I know it saves them money, but I simply can't see the point in putting something on your car when you can literally see the sum total of fk-all out of it! I'd rather not have one. What annoys me even more is that most sellers/shops don't even list if they are flat glass. The mirror on the Land Rover is flat and is completely useless. I really like the style of the mirror and would love to find somewhere that sells convex mirrored glass - even if it means having to get it cut down to fit. Just thought it might be worth mentioning in case you order some really cool mirrors only to end up hating them because you can't actually see anything in them.

Thanks MM , will bear that in mind when I'm searching. I do actually use my mirrors unlike some people who seem to insist on looking dead ahead at all times, so something I can actualy see in would be nice.

....I really like the style of the mirror and would love to find somewhere that sells convex mirrored glass - even if it means having to get it cut down to fit..... You can get the stick on mirror glass in halfords, which is nicely convex 99% of the time, and often even comes with the extra-convex blind spot bit on the end. A decent sized one could be cut down and stuck on easily enough surely?
