Hello, retro fans. My name is Todor I'm from Bulgaria. I have a 1983 Skoda Estelle 120. Me and my father restored the car in 2009 and so far it is our daily ride. We've done s complete respray, complete engine rebuild, front axle with new shock absorbers, springs, bushes, brake pads, brake pipes, recycled brake calipers, steering rack and brake master cylinder. Last weekend I changed the brake lines and brake cylinders of the back brakes. The dashboard and steering wheel are from Estelle 136. I did a sound insulation in the doors and the back side of the body( the effect is just... WOW). The components of the sound system are Pioneer 3000MP headunit and four Hertz speakers. Few weeks ago I changed the carburetor with one that has a "Gadgetman groove" done to it. If you don't know what a Gadgetman groove is watch this video: Тhe effect is awesome. The car run much smoother and quieter. The throttle is more responsive and and it pulls much better in low revs( third gear, 30 km/h, just rest my foot on the pedal and it pushes me to the seat). I think the mileage is better but I haven't measured it yet. In the next post I will show some pictures and videos. I hope you like my Skoda

Bmboy, good old swing arm model remember, the battery sits deep into that bin behind the back seat with the cover over it. Only in fancy semi trailing models does the battery sit proud ;D
Also Todor, tell us more about the gadgetman groove. How do you work out the shape and volume of the groove, or is it just try it and see? Does it make a difference?

My friend did the groove. It is a special shape. As far as I know there is a man in UK that does it as well. I will try to contact him and let him explain. And finally yes there is a difference. The engine runs smoother and quieter. Low end power is much better, it doesn't need much throttle to go with normal speeds.

That's cracking. Looks great - do you want to do mine for me?!
I've been thinking about moving my front speakers into the door cards too.
What is this grove modification to the carb?
How did you change the sound deadening in the engine lid?
And have you got any more pictures of the red Rapid and Warszawa?
