Hi guys
Please note I will not be mentioning ashes to ashes during this ad
This is a great example of a late Zermatt Silver (LY7Y) Audi Coupe GT and I would really like it to go to a good new home
A slightly regrettable sale this, as I haven't had the car long, however I have made a very rash decision and bought a project which is much more interesting to me long term so unfortunately this reliable old steed must find a loving new owner.
The story is this - A friend of mine bought this car a good few years ago and used it as his daily until recently when he had a child (well his missus), always looked after it, never kept it clean.
So when I heard he was moving it on I couldn't resist but to buy it with the intention of tidying it up and using it as a summer toy (insurance just £130 per year fully comp for me!)...
I carried out various cosmetic improvements to the car which has made a huge difference to the way it looks, and my general aim was to return it to looking as OEM and period as possible.
I started a build thread, maybe whoever buys it can finish it off!
I have really pampered this car during my ownership and it is currently stored in a secure underground carpark which is clean and dry.
The car drives great and is nice and lazy round town with plenty of power for motorway driving, however the performance is never going to set the world on fire! That said it is a pleasure to drive and is extremely comfortable. The steering (power) is tight and direct and there are no nasty clunks, rattles etc under load, cornering or breaking. It also comfortably seats four, has a huge boot and is generally a nice place to be.
The rear calipers were recently replaced and the brakes and suspension are good.
The cloth interior is very clean and tidy with a period Panasonic head unit which is great because it has a jack input on the front for your iPod/mp3 player! Quite a rarity I think It also has aftermarket front speakers fitted under the oem grilles and aftermarket period parcel shelf speakers.
The heater is very good and blows hot and cold, all illumination works including the auxiliary dials and instrument cluster. The electric windows both work as do all the other electrics come to think of it, including the power locks.
Bodywork wise it is very straight and completely original. I had it machine polished and it has came up a treat! There are some very small dents on the passenger side door and nitpicking around the car probably some other slight imperfections although generally it is very presentable with no rust.
The original 14" Ronal/VAG oem wheels have been freshly bead blasted and powder coated with a great finish although I am not mad on the colour to be honest.,they would be easy to scotch and blow over if desired.
It also has the later bumpers and smoked rear lights which are quite rare in nice condition...
The car has literally a shed load of history, original document wallet, service book, user manual, and loads of receipts etc.
Minor points are as follows (nothing major!)
- two short lower grills on the front bumper need to be sourced and fitted.
- horrible aftermarket exhaust needs to be replaced (good standard stainless included), down to your own preference of course
- very slight wheel bearing noise from the off side rear wheel, which there was an mot advisory for
- the drivers seat needs a patch on the bolster and seat squab
That's pretty much it really!
In short it's a nice tidy original coupe in a great colour with long tax and full mot which is fundamentally ready to go...
It also comes with a shed load of spares including mirrors, engine components, lights, radiator and interior trim bits which the new owner is perfectly entitled to take off my hands.
I also have a period leather 3 spoke Zender steering wheel and boss kit which I will throw in!
And my build thread:
