the smart skyline money isnt the GTR. you pay a premium, for a car thats likely had a much harder life than the lowlier ones. personally id choose an unkitted r33 (yeah the ugly one) GTST, as its correct wheel drive rather than more wheel drive, yet has the larger turbo-d engine lurking inside and the better running gear, stronger box, bigger brakes etc., plus wont get as many numpties trying to race. plus lower insurance too. Dez speaks the truth. However, I also agree with James. I don't think anyone here can see you behind the wheel of a Skyline. Skyline tax is also horrendous. But, you don't need anymore cars!

I had an R32 GTR myself for 2 years and loved it, however if your looking at a budget of £6k or less , don't bother
you could buy a GTS R32 , however IMO I would definately have a mustang over one of them
The GTR I had was 375BHP with stage 1 mods, done 26-28MPG and never let me down once in 20,000 miles,
HOWEVER, if they do go wrong be prepared for Very expensive parts costs, I paid £90 for a wheel bearing, and a bear RB26 Head will set you back £1k,
I wish that I never sold my R32 , still to date the best car I have had, in the future on my list is a V8 Stang though ! LOL
If you want to have a quick chat its no problem

That blue one is quite nice. Reminds me a bit of an XE-XF Aussie Falcon, I'm sure the same treatment would work great on one. Plus you get bonus doors!

Hi - as a Skyline owner I can advise on lots of the questions. I have an R33 GTST - the rear wheel drive single turbo for those who are not aware. Had it 3 years - spent double purchase price making upgrades and love the car and working on it. Here is my opinion for the GTST models: * Biggest cost is insurance as a High performance import - averages £1k + per year regardless of age or experience. * Parts - Loads being broken and a huge specialist suppliers network in UK - most parts are reasonable 2nd hand. * Easy to work on - done all my upgrades bar the remap in my garage at home - access is great and rarely rusty due to short time in UK * 400bhp easily achieveable and most cars you will buy now will be running upto this power for circa £3 > £4K purchase cost MPG - quite good if you stay off boost and drive it normally. But then you wouldnt buy a Skyline or Mustang if economy is a factor.. Take a look on Skylineowners.com for more information and friendly advice Pic of my car:

I've been a passenger in both heavily modded fox and R33. fox was noise, drama, but not a lot of speed. R33 was probably the fastest car I've ever been in, owner claimed over 450 rwhp. Faster than a stock 2007 RS4 anyway. Just lacked something that the Mustang managed to capture. Mustang wins for me, remove the Elvis stickers and keep it away from bodykits. Keep it subtle

Of the two you mention I'd have the Mustang - mainly because of the stigma attached to skylines but also because they're less common in the UK But if it were me I'd get a f-body Camaro SS or maybe a Firebird WS6 - a Firehawk would be nice if you can find one edit: do not underestimate the importance of t-tops

Yeah, I saw that white 4 eyes one. Nice drive-away kit of parts for the money. V8 into straight 6 isn't a weekend swap though, surprising amount of stuff is different including the front subframe...
I like F Bodies but Gen 4 V8 ones are still pricey, creaky and a bit larger than the Fox/SN95/Nissan options.
