I was going to paint the floor, and even bought the stuff, but i got distracted by the morris. after much measuring and adjusting, including setting the back of the wing further over I re-marked out the arch cut line and started making the arch lip trimmed and welded the two halves together All ready to weld onto the wing. Decided the wing needed to be mounted securely before cutting the arch line back. So patch time As its going to be filled suitably to make a buck for composite wings I decided to use up lots of bits of offcuts rather than cut up some new sheet. This was in no way influenced by me almost being out of suitable sheet. just got to make up a lower returned support for the front to hold it at the correct angle. Hopefully get the arch on tomorrow. I've probably got another couple of weeks with chance to work on the morris, but its likely to get mothballed very soon for a 6 - 12 month period. Mrs_Misfit and I are going to be relocating elsewhere in the UK, which will likely involve rented storage, and at least a couple of moves before a house is bought. I think its unlikely i'll have space or proper access to the morris until its all done. I better make the most of my remaining time! Its at time like this that I wish I picked a slightly smaller project... 4 years and counting since I got it. How time flys.

trimmed back and cleaned up the arch area then started shrinking the lip so it conforms to the shape of the wing fairly slight on the rear, but a 90 deg turn to the front clamped up into position i then put a couple of tacks in and kept adjusting it to the template ended up like this the angle i've taken the shot at makes it look too low (the string line should be in about the centre of the wheel), but its just my poor photography. Its sitting right with about a fingers width clearance all round, as per the other side. the back of the arch was sticking out to far (by about 15mm) so re-made the lower rear lip to pull it back in and tacked on the front reinforcing lip as far as I can tell the headlamps etc are in the same position side to side as it all measures up to within a mm or two. That was enough for today as its felt about 40deg in the workshop (grinding lots so door were shut) and i'm absolutely knacked. will see what I do tomorrow. It'll either be onto the rear of the car, or it'll be re-painting the floor.

Excellent stuff. To show the arch gap you need the centre of the image to be in line with the centre of the wheel, some cameras have a little viewfinder that helps you do this, some don't. It does look about right all the same, I can't get over how right the front looks for having the arches widened like that.

Phew. Ive just finished reading the whole thread.... what a great read - thanks for taking the time to post it! I'm loving how this is turning out - I have to admit I was attracted by the Morris 8 bit initially, rather than the space frame bit - but the whole thing is great!

i think i speak for most of us that the amount of effort and quality put into those wings, you could almost use the steel versions as final product !

I do quite like the raw look, just not so sure mister IVA man will like it. There are some razor sharp edges about it.
Berpop is quite an interesting beast. It undeniably ugly but i rather like it and think it looks good, in the same way i think Metro 6R4's look good.

So the move is definitely going ahead. house went on the market on Friday. Will see how long it takes to sell. I took today off to relax, and get some work done on the car. Instead I spent nearly 8 hours trying to get my boiler sorted as it decided to stop functioning, pretty much in revenge for the house going on the market I suspect. Anyway, after a frustrating day I got about 1.5hrs on the car. Floor is painted, workshop now looks mahoosive, or car looks tiny. Cant decide which! started on the wing supports black / blue lines are where the wing should line up to, to be equal with the other side. rough cut and arch into position clamp to tack it starting on the arch lip much shinking / stretching welded two halves together and cleaned up final trim the arch line roughly in position. That was as far as I got. hopefully some more progress soon. there's also quite a lot of repairs to do to the back corner of this wing. appears to be nearly 10mm thick in lead!

you can take another 4 years to finish , we don't mind. as long as you keep us updated with bucketloads of pictures. Excellent work again. iḿ jealous of your skills.

It's projects like these that make me wish you had two cars. One to do all the work on first, get all the testing done, but leave it with all the scars to show the effort, and one to finish to a high degree. Can look at both with pride, but for the same and different reasons. Also, I know you're going to glass your arches, but think of the weight saving removing all that lead!

After a few hours today i now have hot water again. Seized diverter valve and pump! It would be nice to have two so i can practice on the first and get it perfect on the second. I also keep thinking it'd be nice to start another project that was quicker to do just so i feel as if i've completed something :-) very messy end to the wing, but tacked together then trimmed back the lead / rust combination small hole to patch The lower section of the wing wasnt the right shape compared to the other side, there was much more of a curve to it, the other side is fairly square. I cant tell if i've got wings from different years, if was was twisted out of shape, or if they're always like that. Started trying to pull it to the required shape Had to relief cut the wing to get it to move right as well how i need it to look adjust tack back together nicely moved to the right shape / angle tacked the lip in to the template sitting slightly too far forward, so massaged back filling in the gap at the front filling the casm at the rear that was it for today. Got to get the hose ready for a viewing plus need to get my ass back to manchester ready for work tomorrow.

ALL CAPS, YES ALL CAPS...THAT IS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING METAL WORK.....the extensions happening from the body as opposed to giant fender flares is nothing short of genius...the shapes are poetic and have a very smooth flow both around the tires and across the body...
awesome!
It also borders on steam punk with all the patinas mixing and melding together....
