Hello chaps, I have been wanting to make the move to a turbo Volvo for quite some time, the other week I decided to bite the bullet and impulse buy a 940 saloon. £425 98k on the clock, little rough around the edges but all in all a bargain boosty barge ;D Here are the ebay pics... So yeah, drove it back from Doncaster with Daveyboy20. Felt good, faster than I thought it would be , was running a little rough on the drive back, elec windows didn't work, all the drivers seat padding had disappeared, heated seat broke. The usual Volvo niggles. Still had my Volvo 940 Estate on the drive so I made the tough decision to break in for all the very reusable parts which could potentially make this car into a bullet proof monster! that main component in the estate being the 5 speed M90 gearbox. As I pulled onto the drive from collecting the car, a quick brew was called for but not before ripping the hub caps off ;D I had just replaced the distributor cap, rotor arm, leads and plugs the week before on the estate so me and Dave decided to make a quick swop. Oh yeah, also banged a cone filter on too All in all a pretty successful day... ;D ;D ;D

So, the following weekend (last weekend) managed to get away from doing to much work on the house and get on the car again First job was to swop the seats over from my estate, the one in the saloon is totally awful, its like the feeling you get when your sat on the tv remote. Your not in pain or anything but you know something isn't quite right. So I did a quick swop.... Had the other seat lined up to go in... Got talking to a chap in work over cars, it was by shear coincidence that he had an electronic boost controller for sale off his GT4. As soon as I heard these words emerge from his mouth I nearly wet my pants. It was the first real mod I wanted to make to the car and once I had seen the condition this one was in I had to have it. £160 I think was a pretty fair price, he had all the bits together and it was still even in the box. Looked like it was going to rain so I decided to get setup in the boot.... First thing to install was the solenoid box This is the space I selected, nice and cool next to the intake hole and not far away from the waste gate. Couple of holes and in we go.... Right it was at this point that there are not many photo's as it was utter rat s**t in the foot well due to avery poorly fitted alarm which was draining the battery so along with getting the loom for the EBC I felt the need to remove all the curse word that had been installed previous (btw.. I have a pure hatred for scotch locks!!!) Loom... Wire to thread loom though tight bh space... After 4 hours of messing it was in So once I have the wiring in it was time to look for a position for the controller itself, I decided to mount it just below the radio angled up so I could read it. That required a bracket so I got on it ...... Cut this out of an old piece of metal i had.... Bent it... Checked the fit... Welded it... Sprayed it... Fitted it.... Vwala! Done, 10psi is much more fun Sorry the thread is a bit disjointed at the mo, did a fair bit over a few weekends and for got to take pictures in moments of frustration Will have some better overall pics soon!!

Cheers Steve, would like to get my hands on the clear front and rear indicator set but they look quite expensive, also either band the steels or get some wide racing steels (whatever is cheaper really). A wash and wax made a hell of a difference, need to get my head under the bonnet and give everything a clean up too.

Hello chaps, Not sure if you saw it but I ran thread about making your own exhaust, something I had wanted to do for a while. Since I earned a little extra money last month I decided to go for it Seeing as I breaking my old 940 estate for the cylinder head, m90 gearbox and other useful nick nacks. I decided to remove the exhaust and make some custom exhaust hangers for Bjorn Boost (the swedish nickname that the car has now earned ). I have to use the car for work so I needed to plan the removal of the crud ridden existing exhaust and the fitting of the new shiny one So here is how it went - Dropped the exhaust off the estate in the week and removed the rubbers, hangers and silencer bracket.... going to scrap the cat separate for the cash... Had in mind what I wanted from Demon Tweeks so mapped out a little plan and ordered the parts, worked out around £80 So a few days later this is what I received... Modified the clamp to suit the new silencer size, will drill the hole when it comes to fitting.... So next was making up the hangers Then I needed to create a flange for it to link onto the down pipe, took it off the original cat. So after a week of prep I put together a kit to take to my parents for the fitting (mainly for the use of all my dads welding gear ;D) Sunday morning of last weekend I got up bright and early to put together Bjorns wibblepoo pipe! I haven't got many pictures of the removal of the exhaust as I had to knock the curse word out of it to get the thing off. Once off, welded up the flange, got the silencer in position and welded the hangers to the bottom of the car. Was a bit of a pain but it all went on, sounds class ;D think I will finish it off but cutting the pipe down a bit and putting on a rolled stainless tip

Looking good mate, these really are the cheapest way to get a tuneable RWD car. On my "list to own", but whenever I've looked at them before they have either been n/a, estates or autos. IMO you've got the best combination . Bet the exhaust give a nice turbo sound track ;D

Cheers for the comment. It has been a great cheap tuneable car, the estates are pretty cool but the back end takes a little longer to catch up with the front not strictly a bad thing. The car seriously growls with this pipe, really happy with it

Ha ha yeah, it does tend to have a whistling howl when on boost, sounds like the crack of thunder running down the gears. Sends a shiver down my spine sometime I have to say, after owning my last few Volvo's I will probably be sticking with them for at least another couple of years. Would really like to have an authentic grandad sleeper, with pipe and slippers to match

Hello, It has been a while since I last posted on my thread so I thought I would take the time to do some updates Been busy with work, my house, planning a wedding and Volvo stuffs Anyway here is a photo walk through of what I have been up to: Right since last on here I was fitting my exhaust which was some time ago, I had my MOT done, had to bodge a cat in the system as the tester did not like it (typical). Anyway I started looking into performance upgrades for my car, I was going to start with aesthetics but I quite like the wolf in sheep's clothing approach for the moment. I started looking for a different/bigger turbo, I initially wanted an 18T but this proved difficult for a good price and they are rare too. 19T I felt for my driving was a little too big, would not be fully spooled until 4k rpm so I decided on a 16T. I felt this was the best mid range turbo I could hope for fully spooled at 3k rpm Sorry my uploads failing will add them when I get them sorted

right mate. to make the 2.0 wentworth turbo actually work with boost you will need a the 2.3 ecu. the later number the better. i have a 937 you can buy off me. this allows you to boost to whatever you like. but you might already know this.
i also have a cammo flocked dash which looks the fricken nuts! you could buy that too....
i have a steering boss adapter for a sporty wheel - momo. you could also buy that.....
i also have a set of rear red clear red corner lights. again, see above...
just sayin.

After xmas I would be interested in the rear lights & egg crate grill for the right price I think you may have your wires crossed a little on the ecu side of things though. The ECUs to stay clear of for me are the N/A ones and the LH2.2, any Turbo LH2.4 ECU is compatible including the one factory fitted to the car, admittedly some later ones are better than older ones (I currently run 965 with TLAO chip, 7000rpm limit, and it purrs like a kitten!). I also run a TLAO chip in a gold chippable EZK box (as long as it is chippable and LH2.4 this is compatible throughout including an N/A one). No offence, but your statement is incorrect, I currently run my b200ft @ 16-17psi no problems at all. Other than for the people trying to keep up with me.

sorry I will clear that up
the ecu from a later 2.3 will allow you to boost to whatever the hell you like. and no mate, no offence but my statement isnt incorrect. I had the 937 in mine with a 4 bar fpr, 2.3 injectors and a 15g turbo with a V cam (edit:) and a 531 head and by christ in heaven it pulled. it pretty much destroyed a civic type r up to about 130.
I have a boot spoiler too and a 960 boot infill panel that you could buy........
and a bonnet with a capri bulge welded in it you could buy......
hahaha

With the ECU do you mean it has the fuel cut removed? Does it have any chips in it? If so which ones? What MAF, injectors, intercooler, psi where you running? Sorry I'm just curious. I just about done in a Type R this morning, I was shocked.

the boot spoiler is a genuine one in silver with a brake light. ive replaced the connector to allow it to plug in place of the rear window one. lovely thing but the factory fitting method to me seems well ghetto.
the reason the 2.3 turbo ecus work on the 2.0 is because the 2.3s read a different voltage to the 2.0 and wont go near the fuel cut. this means it probably runs a bit lean or a bit rich. my only issue was when it kept leaking oil out of that bloody stupid square O ring on the turbo return in to the block and it ran a bit dry. no piston melting issues or anything. the stupidest thing i had was the spark plug once. i pulled it out and it looked fine. turned it how it would sit in the engine and the electrode got covered by the ceramic bit that seemed to have snapped off.
i badly want a late wentworth estate as a toy. I'm aiming to build a block strong enough for 500hp sometime soon. if only i could find a 16v head!!!

As I say PM me a price, would be good to see a couple of pics of the bits, mainly interested in - clear rear light indicators egg crate grill My current ECU's chip has the fuel cut removed and the map is pretty smart too, so I don't need the ECU you are selling with what I am trying to accomplish, the 16T I have is pretty much spent over 18psi according to the compressor map. With the ECU & ICU did you run any sort of chip/ecu performance upgrade? If so which ones? What MAF, injectors, intercooler, boost where you running?
