nothing wrong with rodding a 2CV. Just don't start with a nice one.
New galvo chassis start at about 350 quid. Floor pans 50 quid each side and sills from 20 quid upwards depending on quality.
Any 2CV can be brought back to life but nice clean examples are becoming collectable and have a price to match.
When rodding you have 2 options, go standard chassis and this limits you to engine choice, namely 2 cyl standard or blown or tuned or whatever (all been done) and 4 cyl GS range (again all been done tuned blown etc) non standard chassis with converted to upright struts on custom tubes with just a 2CV body sitting on, then there has been dragsters. 2.8 ford engines etc. The real cutdown thing you picture is oneof the best ever i've sen, looking at it the mechanical are all standard. I drive one daily and to be honest very rarely cant keep up or exceed the pace of modern traffic but you gotta know how to drive one.
They rust everywhere but panels are easy to find and easy to fit if you have a bit of bodywork knowledge. Derivatives (dyanes, ami's, van, mehari's are harder to get and harder to fix)

Banded *cough* wheels *cough*
What id like to do to one of these is put it on some proper sized wheels with a proper suspension setup that dosent give the wheels some stupid camber and then channel the body over it so it sits right.
But then again you might loose its charicter a bit. Id deffo stick with the 2 cylinder lump
Maybe remove the wings?

Omn paper yes very slow accelerating, 0-60 in like 20 odd seconds, but you don't get left behind and i beat stuff up to about 15 mph. Its weird. But fun :-)

Getting it low is easy, and for wheels try looking at some of the kitcar manufacturers, like Lomax.
Other than that use one of the many of the specialists for the repair parts and you'll have a very cool ride on the cheap!

When I was at college my mate had one, he didn't really look after it well but he did like it and drove it into college every day. He complained that it used to make a funny noise going round corners and over speed humps though so he asked his dad to take a drive in it to see what the problem was...... . . . Can you guess yet? . . . . . Yep, chassis had rotted through and snapped, apparently there was only a piece of rust of paper thickness holding the front and the back of the car together.
