That is a purchase I seriously doubt you'll ever regret "Some say, they're the last properly built Mercedes before the bean counters took control" Probably true, mine feels like a 4 year old car and its now 21, but, they do like to rust There's a couple of grotty bits on the body, the OSF wing is a bit crusty by the front of the wheelarch, there's a 50p-sized area of surface bubbling on the NSF A-post, a bit on the bootlid over the numberplate light, and a small area in the boot behind the number plate that may need a 2" patch....aside from that it's solid, underneath is amazing....I ran a wet finger over the floorpans and it just comes up black and shiny. The car has spent most of the 2000's in southern Spain which seems to have helped it escaped the worst ravages of tinworm.

Anyway, I'm not going to let that spoil my day. I keep peeking at it on the drive from behind the kitchen blinds and getting little flurries of (non-sexual) excitement. Glad you;re happy with it, I was like that when I first got it too Hope you're ears weren't ringing too much when you got home ! It did rather assault the eardrums, but not as much as the alarm did when I inadvertently set it off on the drive! ;D Did keep me awake though, the car easily rivals my old TDi Xantia (which, unlike the last one, had suspension that worked...LOL) for comfort, thankfully fiddling with all the toys on the way home kept me from nodding off in my chair (those aren't mere seats...oh no). Dead chuffed with it, thanks for the hospitality and coffee Andy, much appreciated.

Brian the wheels on it at the mo are W203 (2000 onwards) C Class wheels - from an Elegance model if my memory serves me correctly (for your info, if you come to sell them).
Looks a nice motor!
Regards,
John.

Have you looked at the jacking points? Under the rectangle plastic covers in the sill trim? Good cars, these. But the second facelift model is a bit more prone to rust. That is a purchase I seriously doubt you'll ever regret Untill the engine wiring loom-of-doom disolves itself... ;D

Having just spent the last year doing 15,000 miles in my 93 220TE which cost me £750 all I can say is enjoy sir.
I have and still do thoroughly enjoy driving it everyday. You really do get a sense of occasion in one of these. I have had to spend about £600 on it this last year but that is to keep it in tip top condition.Aircon regas, loom issue, Tyres (Winters and Summers)and cam cover gasket. It has been worth every penny. I have sourced a seven seat kit of the bay and w124 roof bars. I have Ipod connectivity and yesterday passed mot needing only a ball joint. I love its silence when cruising at 70ish on the motorway aswell as its uber coolness. I took it to Belgium and it didnt miss a beat. My plan is actually to keep this for a long time, The build quality is very good the ride is excellent and the seats are so comfy. The other great thing is that mine is a manual . I am even thinking of getting a matching Blueblack 190 to join it. 20 years ago when it was new it must have been something very special because it still feels great. The ride quality is also excellent . Enjoy it....no more xantias for you. :-)
