On '5 US' channel on freeview, I was lucky enough to catch PMR USA. It was great. I do equally like the UK one too, infact it got me to 'understand' Westwood, if ya know what I mean! ;D First up was a '57 Chevy truck owned by a fit chick, it had been in her family since the 70's, gotten totally knackerd and massive but she stuck with it, got the obvious makeover that worked well, fire red with flames, and a 300bhp new V8 big sofa in the back and murial on the ceiling along with a 6 monitor screen. (looks like the buggers sold it! cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4642100124)Second, some chubby UFO spotter in a '77 Malibu, that had got shagged from the desert, this got a UFO make over, using crop circles, lights ace purple interior and a cool glass projected screen. I know the cars are unpractical in real life but I bloody love it, characters, outcomes etc. I have no criticism other than as ever I personally wish it was slower and more detailed on how they do it. anyone else seen it? never even noticed 5 US before!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I really like PMR but, I honestly can not stand Westwood and all his 'gangsta' slang. I swear he doesn't even know what he's talking about. At least Xzibit makes out he knows and at least he has the money to back up all his car purchasing. But this isn't about presenter bashing so I'll head back to where I was originally going...
I think I must of seen every episode on the uk at least twice (thank you cable!)
My favourite few have to be: the black Chevy pick-up with ghost airbrushing (shweeeet) the 80's clunker that was turned to a street rod and then the lwb Ford van that had the jacuzzi in the back ;D

Pimp (Imigrant boy/drug dealer look ;D ) my ride would be better if they ACTUALLY showed you how to do some of the work/jobs/customisation instead of walking and talking around like a bunch of A$$holes !

Anywayz... Overhaulin' is far far FAR superior to PMR ;D
Plus you have a fit beeehutch co-presenter and Chip Foose. You actually see the work being done and the progress being made.
AND *breathes*
I haven't seen a single half-arsed job done on Overhaulin'. Not a single corner cut or bodge made. I would happily turn my car over to that lot for them to fettle and tweek. "We know Skinny Booooooy was fed up with the old and tired 2ltr so we traced down a race prepped 7.7ltr V8"
In the words of Cartman "HHHnnnNNNNnnGGGGG!!"

Surely with the footage left on the floor in the edit room, they could do an adult/enthusiast version too, gotta be some wedge in that concept for em, surely. 'PMR directors cut FTW' I was a big big fan of 'Monster Garage' on C4 too, I fear theres little sponsorship, so we may never see it again. As for presenters/characters, Its great, some are just biggin it up for the kids I reckon, quite funny trying to be coolness. Doesnt offend me, switched off to it. I even spent a few nights working on the MR2 this summer listening to Westwoods show, and I don't even like gangster rap!

The Mustang had a floor panel welded in IIRC, I do recall it was a flat sheet of steel welded over the original hole rather than calling Paddock or somewhere and buying in a floorpan section though. It was a VW bus where they pop rivetted a ali sheet over a rot hole in the sill and wobbed it up with filler. Nice. Not.

.... and the mustang with sheet steel pop-riveted over the top of rotten floor panels. Quality workmanship right there. i nearly cried when they got their grubby mitts on the mustang the panel van in the OP is really nice though, possibly one of the best they've done, also like the matt black one with red pinstripes and chrome humcaps on steels with whitewalls - possibly the same one mentioned here: the 80's clunker that was turned to a street rod westwood is laughably bad, xzibit is kinda laid back and cool, westwood just seems to be trying too hard to be something he isn't. pretentious people suck.

westwood is what he is, Bless him! He has done a whole lot for the hip hop scene in the uk, so leave him alone! Admittedly he is a class a curse word thou, but it works in a comedy fashion!
He has some interesting rides too, has anyone seen his Impala with the digital dash?! Rare as fook, and pretty sweet too!
The people on Pimp My ride U.S are far cooler than the muppets on the Pimp My Ride UK, that woman is annoying, and the dude with the hair?! Jeesus, and his company is called Carsima int it?! funny shizzle! Whereas on the US version u have the mexican blatant drug lord, and the very scary big black man who is well funny!

Overhaulin FAR exceeds PMR as stated, but I prefer PMR US deffo. Are West Coast Customs stil doing it? Westwood is the UK Hip-Hop lord-of-all, but as a presenter I think he sux. I only saw one PMR UK and it was laughable. The show (both US and UK) is completely staged from the outset but the UK version is so obviously contrived and badly acted that its just terrible. The US guys and gals get awa with being all excited and crazy because they are mostly crazy and excitable, but the English people just don't seem to cut it! Hehehe!.
Foose My Ride anyday! (chuck in the Courtney Hanson and I would be complete)

Should have left it unpainted and whacked it hard with the lowering stick IMHO. Oh and then Xzibit should have whacked the chick with his stick, I would have.

WCC are no longer doing PMR USA. It's been handed to far bigger company called Galpin Auto Sport (GAS for short) it's part of the Galpin Group which (according to their website) are one of the biggest car dealers in the USA.
I bet they have far more financial clout when it comes to sponsors than WCC.

i didnt realise NHRA was on 5US! Ive checked and it appears to be mondays at 7pm. Duly noted in the diary lol.
re PMRUSA, i suspect they will have simply bought the 'rights' to it. Sponsorship wont have come into it.
